Exactly, they share their town with a huge name in Rugby League, they are surrounded by other football teams, many of them in the Premiership and the population is not that big.
It is more thanks to their owner and fan who has backed his love for the club with his money, it will take a generation or two to cleanse the area of liverpool, Everton, Man U and City fans with local youngsters breaking the habits of their dads and follow their local team.![]()

Even those kids who didn't want to be seen as sheep and follow Liverpool or Man U have the choice of Bolton and Blackburn who until recently were in the premier league.
A lot of Wiganers are very hostile towards the football team.
Do they get the same crap off rugby league that we get off the egg-loving establishment here?

Yes they do but it's less the media and more about the general Wigan population. Whelan attempted a joint Season ticket scheme with Athletic and the Warriors but no one turned up for the football. They see football as a threat, which is a crying shame.
