A forum for all things Cardiff City

I have not renewed my season ticket. I have agonised over this decision for some time and at first felt that I had done the wrong thing by missing the possibility of Premiership football but now I am comfortable with what I have done. Before there are lots of you jumping on this post, I will say that I continue to support the club till my season ticket runs out and I wish Cardiff well in the Premiership as I am sure we will get there.
I have sat in the Canton all season and for some reason the team I am watching does not seem like mine anymore,I cannot put my finger specifically on what it is but losing our identity is a big part of the problem but I think it goes further than this.
I have enjoyed some electric nights down Ninian Park and even some in our new stadium but there is something missing and has been for some time.
Even the chanting in my opinion does not feel the same and only seems to be 90% as passionate as it once was. Getting the chants going now seems hard work compared to when they seemed to spontaneously break out at a moments notice.
Yesterdays match was a typical example of what is wrong. We are within touching distance of the greatest league in the world yet the crowd numbers were disappointing and the atmosphere at the ground does not do justice to a team on the brink of promotion. Coming to end of a season where we are top of the division and are favorites promotion should see the ground being jam packed and a brilliant atmosphere but it is nothing like this in reality. I have always enjoyed my time supporting City and will still hope that my passion will return soon regardless of what division we play in.

Thanks for letting us know.

why are you using the word 'we'
and why do you think anyone cares weather you renewed your ticket or not?

That's a pity BB64 but it's your decision, hope your passion comes back soon.

It is irrelevant if anyone cares or not, The post is about how I personally feel.

Thanks for the put down but it would be nice if you actually commented on if you feel that something is wrong and if so then why.

No, nothing is wrong for me I still will continue to support the club.
Don't like the colour, but that's about it.
To be honest, if it was not for the fact the club needs the money, I would be happy to stay in the championship.

Why can't I use the word "we". I am still supporting the team for the final push till the end of the season.

There isn't anything wrong. The only thing that's happend is Barnsley scored in the 97th minute and our dramatic fans are having a little cry about it and going over the top.

Barnsley equalising has nothing to do with my post and even though it was disappointing, I see it as a point gained myself.

I hear what you are saying.
I feel nothing like other promotion seasons. I find it a chore sometimes to get myself up for travelling down for the game.
I put it down to a number of things - rebrand, new stadium, WAGS and children in the Canton, and most of all I put my lack of interest down to the laboured football that we play.

I did the same thing and left in 1987, couldn't find a reason to "waste" my money any more.
No internet or foreign owners to blame, I just had enough. It happens.
You'll come back when you are ready, but its not the rebrand, just modern football.

i think the atmosphere is poor because since xmas with the notable exception of blackburn the football is quite dire and negative and unattractive to watch.
i think people also look at the way we play at the moment and think we have no chance of surviving next year if we go up playing that type of football.

Its the new shit fans that annoy me. Go to Oakwood park for the day if you want a family atmosphere with no swearing, shouting and beer. Its a day release for the working man.

Yes it does not feel the same for me anymore for the reasons you have identified. It almost feels as if I am just going through the motions just because I have to. Its a shame really because I would have liked to have seen us play in the Prem and all the support that I have given over the years was always gearing up for this moment. I am still glad though that I have been a season ticket holder and would not have changed that.

I agree. Its not just the rebrand for me although this is part of the problem but I accept that this is the way modern football is going. It just does not feel like Cardiff City to me anymore and atmosphere in the stadium is no longer what it used to be for a number of reasons. Like you say, I will come back when I am ready and hopefully some of this lost passion will return.

I do agree that the football has been boring on occasions and I can live with that but I just feel something is missing and I am not enjoying it like I used to. Perhaps things will improve next year

It happens, people get bored of many things throughout their life. There are a many fans on this board who hark back to the times when the club were in lower league football simply because they enjoyed the atmosphere, the banter, the socialising etc. People will obviously hate change if change takes away the things they once loved. Many blame the rebrand but I honestly think they are very much like you, they hark for the good old days. Success changes things and many believing they wanted it have now realised they would prefer not to have it. Some want both but are finding it hard to accept change such as Annis whilst others accept that changes are inevitable if success is to be achieved like me. It doesn't mean that any of us love CCFC any more or less than the other just that some will support from a distance because they simply no longer enjoy what's happening at the stadium itself or on the pitch

You seem to have summed things up perfectly.
Thanks.

Keep in mind...
Team will be different next season.
Branding is unknown, the club might be sold in the summer, a club going up is a very attractive purchase.
Who knows how the summer changes may impact what CCFC is like later this year in all aspects.

Polo do you want a stand that is for adults and one for kids? That is a childish statement and deal with it you baby. And new stadium? Football has changed, move on. You're reasons are awfully poor compared to others.

I would hope that we recapture our identity.
