Why do Cardiff fans expect perfection from the manager?

This is something I've been asking for a while now and it's really beginning to piss me off. Instead of praising Malky for the things he's done right, for our brilliant position in the league, he gets abuse for every single on of his mistakes.

Sure, he makes mistakes. Sure, he's stubborn and sometimes doesn't learn from them, but he's a Championship manager ffs. Look at teams above us in the Premiership;

Stoke fans don't think Pulis is up to it, Aston Villa fans don't think Lambert is up to it, Manchester City fans don't think Mancini is up to it, Chelsea fans don't think Benitez is up to it etc.

Managers for clubs at higher levels than us still make big mistakes and do sloppy jobs that the fans slaughter them for, it happens everywhere. If Malky was better than he is now, he wouldn't be with us; if Malky wasn't making the mistakes he's being accused of, he'd be managing at a higher level and we'd be stuck with someone realistically worse than him.

He is no where near the perfect product, but he's one the best a club like us can have without recklessly gambling on a different manager and getting lucky. Fortunately for us, he's young, very professional, very determined and I think he can learn and improve as the club grows in strength and stature.

EDIT: Also, learn to take defeat on the chin and enjoy the good times. Because when/if we go up, this board is going to be unbearable when we struggle.

On the whole, I feel Malky's done a brilliant job. But there have been times where he's either decided to close out games to early, giving the opposition a way back into the game, or he's delayed or made the wrong substitutions.

The most basic thing is, Cardiff pretty much dominated 90% of the game. How many did we score? 1 - How many should we of scored? 2 or 3.

If Cardiff are the better team and the players are not getting the ball in the net, you cant really blame Malky?

Nope, sorry can't see him lasting in the premier. Lets get this off my chest.

The football over the last 2 seasons has been dire. The results have been good but overall the performances nothing to write about. Last season I said Malky would not get us to the premier. I didn't go on a rant about this because of the circumstances MM had to work under and that being having little money to restart all over again. However during the rebuild of last season I felt the way MM got his team playing football we were in for some boring times. It looked like it was going to be effective but not enough to get us up. I should have accounted for a very poor league for the following season.

i really do believe this season has been the poorest ever since our return to the 2nd tier. No promoted side has put a challenge in which is unusual, the relegated sides have been worse although thanks to a late run one of them might save some blushes and the big factor is that the league will be won with a low point tally compared to most seasons but with a comfortable margin for the champions who will be us.

When you look at other clubs you then see how easy it has been for us. Blackpool one of the favourites after missing out in the play off final, lose their manager. Bolton changed their manager and now look like they could pinch a play off spot. I wonder if they made the change earlier they could be forcing us into a play off spot. The same could be said for Forest. The only real surprise is Leicester who have spent and got their favourite manager back putting themselves in a position to go for it but have ended up crumbling like they have the last 2 seasons. Something is not quite right at the Walker Stadium. It is easy to criticise but I am struggling to see a team that has done well with what they have got.

If there is any hope for MM in the premier I look back at the Carlin Cup. We put a team out that is a lot less than what we have now yet we held Liverpool and should have won the game. Perhaps we could have beaten them with what we have today. We will find out next season but I don't think many will be putting money on us. Personally I fear for MM and will be watching how the summer goes. Interesting summer coming up.

Now it is pretty clear they are easily worth what was paid for them, these negative tits have moved onto something else. They never have to justify themselves or their criticism, they just find something else and their previous BS gets forgotten..

Seems to me that rather than admit YOU are WRONG and that Malky will get us up, you are trying to blame the other clubs for not playing to their potential? It's an usual defence.

We've got 80 points from 41 games so have a potential 95 available. Since the Championship came into being, here are the winners:

Reading - 89
QPR - 88
Newcastle - 102
Wolves - 90
West Brom - 81
Sunderland - 88
Reading - 106
Sunderland - 94

So we can eclipse all but 2 of the past winners (although all I care about is promotion).

I'm interested as to how you define what a good or poor division is. Was Newcastle and West Brom running away with it 3 seasons back a sign of a good division or West Brom winning the league with 81 points a sign of a good division? You could argue that the team winning by a smaller margine have had to win a better division because teams are more capable of taking points off each other. It's certainly more competitive.

Every season I've heard poeple saying it's a poor division but the other 23 teams are the 2nd best group of clubs along with us as of today. Let's see how we fare next season before you start predicting Malky's decline shall we?

In fairness I think Mutch's lack of playing time is down to the foot injury more than anything else and then struggling for form. I think if he was injury free this season then he would have played a lot more and demonstrated what a good signing he is.

The others I don't understand. Kim played really well against Blackpool in Jan then we hardly saw him until April. I also don't understand his reluctance to use Noone especially away from home. In tougher games where you need someone defensive minded then fair enough, however surely we should be taking the game to teams lower down the division. I know Noone is inconsistent but start with him and if he doesn't perform sub him.
The Etien situation I really don't understand, I can only assume Malky now thinks he has bought a dud and is not good enough for either this or any higher level.

You and a couple of others have misunderstood my post I think.

I'm not saying he's beyond criticism. I'm saying that he's going to make these mistakes because he's not a top class manager, he's a young championship manager. If he wasn't making these mistakes then he wouldn't be with us, he'd have been snapped up by a club in the Prem. He's at our level and his results so far have shown that.
