" MALKY & FLITCROFT HAVE THEIR SAY AFTER BARNSLEY DRAW "

I have to agree with Malky on this quote :ayatollah:

Malky "I told the players that were a point closer to the total that we need to be promoted and thats the most important thing of the evening ."

Malky

Malky " Thats another point towards our total, I thought we were excellent tonight,I really did. "
" For 95 and a half minutes, it showed that, but we lost a late goal, were obviously disappointed with that, but at the same time I told the players that were a point closer to the total that we need to be promoted and thats the most important thing of the evening ."

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay accepted the referee was right to add the six minutes injury time which allowed Barnsley to snatch a last gasp equaliser.

The Bluebirds were denied victory when the ball deflected off Barnsley's veteran defender Stephen Foster and bounced slowly over the line to make it 1-1 and mackay said: "I asked the referee to clear up why the game went into six minutes of injury time and he did that.

"McNaughton went down and that's where the extra minute came from. I was surprised it was five minutes in the first place, but the referee clarified for me why it was that long.

"I accept his explanation.

"He told me that when Barnsley scored there were four seconds left in the game."

Ben Turner had put city ahead with his first goal of the season, while Foster's late effort snatched a win from City's grasp.

"We could have been more clinical," said Mackay. "I was delighted with the way we played against a team fighting for their lives.

"Barnsley can work opposing teams to death, but we dominated them and created chances. We should have been further ahead.

"But we are still a point better off than we were and a point closer to the total we will need.

"There are strong characters in our dressing room and they will be ready to go again against Nottingham Forest on Saturday."

David Flitcroft(Barnsley)

" I thought that was the slowest goal I have ever seen,I just thought that was never going to go in, it got over the line. "
This group of players deserve that, they fought, they fought and they fought and they dont know when to give up and we displayed that tonight and I am delighted that this group can say to their fans weve done the job for you.

My brother always sets a timer for injury time and he paused it for Kevs injury and i asked him how long left literally just before the shot and it had 2 seconds on it  as much as it pains me it was right.

but where did the 5 mins come from to start with?

30 secs per sub? thats 3 mins.. in the first half gunnar was down for longer than kev and we only had 1 min! 7 mins in the end was ridiculous in my opinion.

Cardiff manager Malky Mackay:

"The extra time was for [Cardiff defender] Kevin McNaughton going down [for treatment]. I wanted the referee to clear that up, which he did.

"When they scored there were four seconds to go, he was going to blow the whistle four seconds later and I am absolutely fine with that.

"I was delighted with how we played, we were playing a team fighting for their lives. David [Flitcroft, Barnsley manager] has them working very hard and they have outworked teams to death.

"Tonight that did not happen. We dominated and we had chances. We could have been more clinical and finished the game off. At 1-0 anything can happen, including a freak goal."

Barnsley manager David Flitcroft:

"That is more than a point for us. To fit this game into our programme after the game against Crystal Palace and after Easter week, it was asking a lot of this group.

"But you cannot ask for more than going 97 minutes against the champions-elect.

"This gives us real momentum and confidence ahead of the Charlton game.

"At five minutes McNaughton went down, I don't know why he went down but that is where you get your extra minute from."
