Heider's chance

Tue Apr 09, 2013 9:48 pm

How the f**k didn't he score that one on one in injury time? That would have killed the game off.

Still top of the league. :malky:

You could see how gutted he was when he missed it.

I bet he'll have nightmares about that miss for the next few nights. :(

I thought he had a good game in general but he's absolutely confirmed that any finishing instincts he had have long gone.

That's Miller and Heidar Malky's ruined. Who's next? :D

Aye I thought he had a good game too.

Hmm, not sure. He must have someone on his list. :D

Truly awful miss. Vital in the context of the game and never looked for a minute like he would score.

Even I'm amazed that I'm saying this but I would have preferred if he'd brought on Rudy!

It can happen to anyone but IMO it cost us the game, harsh maybe but he had all the time in the world.

He never looked confident.

Finishing clearly hasn't been his strong point this season but I almost feel he'd have been better holding up for someone to shoot for him :(

His finishing all season has been pretty poor.

Surprised me how many chances he has missed, good Arial chances as well this season gone begging.

I wonder how we'd have done if we'd managed to get a proper center forward at the start of the season.

I mean Helguson's great, he puts in lots of hard work and wins every header but as much as I respect him and hate saying this he's just not got enough in him for a promotion chasing team.

If only we'd somehow got Rodriguez :(

Yeah totally agree.

Helguson filled a gap at the start of the season but since Campbell came in it has shown what we have lacked.

Next season (touch wood) in the prem we need at least 2 new strikers.

I remember that StanQPR fella saying, shortly after we signed Helguson,, that he missed a lot of "sitters",,,,& that was one hell of a miss tonight (yesterday)!!!

The thing you're all forgetting in this thread is Heidar stuck his head into two huge arial challenges to create his chance. It was a chance he should have scored, but Heidar is a warrior who charged through two brick walls once again to create his own chance. It was not Heidar's fault we failed to win and he is one of the reasons why we are still top of the league. His brave header when he concussed himself at home to Hull might be the goal that is the difference this season.

No one can question his commitment buts its worthless unless he finishes that chance, he had so much time.
He snatched at a half chance late on.
He filled a gap earlier in the season but IMO should now be down the pecking order

I thought Helguson was good when he came on - held the ball up well, won a load of long ball headers - the Barnsley centre backs got nowhere near him - and won a physical battle to create his best chance, which let's face it most of us, deep down, knew he was unlikely to score from...

As a team, cos that's how the game is played, we sat back far too much in the last 20 minutes. As a team, we created lots of half chances and bobbing balls in the box, but failed to convert any after Big ben got his thigh onto one.

Someone has had a go at Whitts - he did look out of sorts and yes he was a bit of a Jessie a couple of times, but that is no surprise. I can see why Malky brought Whitts on, like for like left footer with Kimbo.

Personally I thought Mutch faded the worst; its just getting to that stage of the season when everyone is getting a bit tired - I know Mutch hasn't played a lot but he probably needs a run of 10 games to get fully match fit.

I was tamping at the final whistle - not at any of the players, just the situation. I don't blame any individual player - I love this team and the ethic of it, and for that I thank the manager. I thought Malky showed great composure in his post match interview, far more than I managed

Onwards and upwards boys.

Up the City! :ayatollah:
