Barnsley Excel Against Top Teams !

Tue Apr 09, 2013 4:11 pm

Cardiff City tonight host one of the in form teams of the Championship when Barnsley visit CCS. The Tykes are not beating everybody, but are picking up points with some regularity and seem to lift themselves especially when playing those sides fighting for promotion. Cardiff City could take a huge stride towards promotion, but that will be a tough ask and Banrsley will certainly be up for the game.

Barnsley have lost one game in the last five, winning three of those games. Thats an impressive enough run , but is almost intimidating when you consider that the teams they have beaten were Brighton, Watford and Leicester City! All three firmly in the promotion race and the former two sides in excellent form themselves.

Last time out, Barnsley secured a creditable draw against Crystal Palace, keeping out the likes of Bolasie, Murray and Zaha. On paper, the clash against Sheffield Wednesday seemed by far the easiest clash for the Tykes - but they lost 2-1 to Dave Jones' men suggesting that they do indeed relish the big occasion and are more than a match for the top six sides.

Goals from Ben Nugent and Aron Gunnarsson were enough for Cardiff City to record a win up at Oakwell, but had to resist a late surge from the home side who pulled a goal back through Melis before Simon Lappin perished for the team cause in collecting a red card on debut. A similar result would do very nicely for Cardiff City tonight and we are of course capable of recording a comfortable victory if we perform to our very best and with home advantage. Unfortunately that is rarely the case, and with Barnsley possessing a good squad and in such good form - tonight's result is far from a foregone conclusion.

As you can see by the quote below..........

Looks like a few more fans who we're going to have to prove wrong.Nobody likes the look of our remaining fixtures, but then again not many other teams are in the form we're in right now. Who is to say a game away at Cardiff will be any harder/easier than a game at home to Charlton for example ?

A lot of Barnsley fans think they have a shout tonight which they do.I wish that bloody Nathan Blake would keep his mouth shut!

Barnsley are 3rd on home form, 10th away and 6th overall. You have to remember they have achieved this against decent opposition!

I have said 3.1 on here but that is wishful thinking more than anything, I certainly wouldn't state it in the press if I had any sort of footballing reputation to maintain. Nobody knows what will happen tonight but one thing is for sure, we are firm favourites. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
