My hopes for tonight

Tue Apr 09, 2013 11:35 am

1 A win of course
2 all fans get behind the team
3 some atmosphere I sit in the grandstand so I know not much signing from there so really need the Canton and Ninian stands to show up
4 the guy behind me not getting on any players back for once and his mate to stop moaning about Marshall ( can you believe that but true )
5 an early goal or two for city to calm my nerves

Who is doing the signing? And who are the deaf people they are doing it for?

I sit near a few people who criticise Marshall a lot which I found astounding really!

But what I find most astounding is people who moan when the ball is passed back to him when their are under pressure or looking to start again etc ... The players gets criticised for hoofing it, yet when they try passing it around (which inevitably will have the ball being passed backwards) people get on their backs!! The players cant win!!

People get pissed off when it goes back to Marshall because 99 times out of 100 he hoofs it and we lose the ball.

99 times? Really? It's not even half that, he always looks for the short ball to the defenders, and if it's on he gives it. If the striker is closing him down, there's not much else can do but clear it!

In my time I have been known to criticise Marshy - not this season so much, and I wouldn't call it criticism as urging him to come off his line for a ball on the 6 yard area.

This season as been his best - always a fabulous shotstopper, I am now a lot less nervous about how he deals with dead balls.

Perhaps just turn around and have a chat to the boys concerned - I find that helps me when the old fella behind me goes off on one about how shit City are and how were are going to f**k it up AGAIN - just before we score out third! It also helps me realise I may be too harsh in my verbals at times, though they are usually directed at the lino, the ref or the oppo full back.

That said some people just can't help expressing themselves in that fashion, so I tend to take less notice - my father-in-law ALWAYS has a rant after we concede a goal and it just does my head in. I tell myself to expect it so am less likely to get pissed off with it.

Can't win mate - the beauty of being in a crowded stadium; talking of which I was at Twickers last year and some tw*t asked us to sit down when Wales scored the only try of the match, as we were spoiling his view
