Lets just set the record straight - after 40 games

I have omitted Newcastle as they ran away with it and far exceeded the performance of any club at this level for many years.

The only team to concede less than us at home are QPR

We've outperformed Reading at this stage of the season at home on goals scored and against

An impressive 34 points collected away from home - only bettered by Reading (C), Wolves (C) and West Ham (P via playoffs) but West Ham had a shocking home record hence the playoff position

24 games won - no other club has matched that unless you include Newcastle

On total points no team has done better than us after 40 games unless you do include Newcastle

As for playing boring football - we've outscored Reading, West Ham and have equalled QPR's tally after 40 games. A QPR that won plaudits for playing awesome football and getting the job done and Taarabt being magic.

This league is full of stronger players - tell me the last Championship player to get signed by United for a figure around £15m? It speaks volumes when Ferguson himself is even splashing the cash to sign players down here. We've had players of enough quality to thwart that threat but yes its a terrible league and we've been terrible.

---

The reason everyone is saying this year has been boring and we are boring is not because its true its because the league has failed to give them the drama they crave. It has failed to give them that team like Reading that surged and powered on to the title. Thats why they are lashing out and saying we've won a poor league and why we are boring and play crap football. The stats do not lie. We've destroyed Blackburn and Wolves, we've been part of a goal fest at Charlton albeit on the wrong end, we've come from behind enough times to win, we've shut out team when we've taken the lead, we've hardly had any penalties to help inflate our scores - that Mason pen was the first in months, etc.

Everyone lashes out when they dont get their way. Especially spoilt football fans who've got used to us throwing away leads and letting it slip from our hands. This time change has happened and they dont like it. Poor football fans. :sleepy2:

Great post.

It is mad to think we are on the same amount of wins as QPR when they went up.

Qpr had 24 and Norwich had 23 but had a massive lump of draws with it.

What do you mean by 'lashes out?'

You can piss about with all the stats you want the football this season has been dull but effective. I for one would prefer to see entertaining football but not at the expense of results.

So as well as being a reluctant red I also accept reluctantly the way we play as a means to an end.

Stating that is not 'lashing out' it's called having a credible opinion.

In fairness, performances don't make a difference to me that much sometimes.

But on Monday and Saturday I saw 2 fantastic peformances with the teams full of energy.

People who want entertainment though.. it does sound quite a neutral think to say like your there just to watch the game hoping for any team to win rather than your own.

No its not. All the claims we've been rubbish compared to others is rubbish itself. We've outperformed many of those teams. Pretty football you say? Was Maynards step over for Whitts to lash home not pretty enough? You think QPR were Barcelona like every week? No. This is the Championship where there will always be battles fought and dogged games to be decided.

We've been absolutely class this season and the only reason other fans are crying is because we've not bottled it as they predicted and we've pissed on the league.

Spot on with the analysis. Also the point about other fans/clubs waiting for us to bottle it is a valid one.

As for "sexy" football - well a lot of Watford's game is based around the physical Troy Deeney, with lots of high balls to him.

It's clearly a weaker league, the facts we have done as well as other promoted teams means little.

Zaha going to man united seems to be your reasoning its a stronger league? That's some odd logic you have there considering zaha has been in the league for the last 3 years.

The fact an average side in an average top leagues (Serie A) reserves can challenge for automatic promotion tells you all you need to know about the strength of this current league. We have taken advantage of the relegation teams being in turmoil (two of which could find themselves in league 1 such is there problems) and the other big teams not firing until late in forests case.

That's made the normal play off crew promotion contenders and to our credit, our football has not been good but we have been scraping wins and have been more consistent than the ones below us. The fact they are Watford, palace and hull tells its own story.

Average side in an average league? It doesn't mean these players can't be a talent in this divison.

Stupid statement.
