TAYLOR If we go up the players might be regarded as legends

Cardiff City defender Andrew Taylor

“We want to be in the Premier League, we want to be classed as Premier League players and everything that comes with it.

“If we go up the players might be regarded as legends at the club, but we are not looking that far ahead now.”

CARDIFF CITY full-back Andrew Taylor has praised the unflappable last line of the Bluebirds defence – goalkeeper David Marshall.

The Scotland shot-stopper has been in excellent form this campaign, helping the Bluebirds to a 16th clean sheet of the season with a world-class save at Watford on Saturday.

“David has been fantastic for us this season. He’s come into his own and made some vital saves,” said Taylor.

“He’s been integral in our promotion push and has been a massive part our season.

“To be honest some of the saves he has made have been unbelievable. He organises the defence so well. He has a good voice, but at the same time he is calm. He just does not get flustered at all.”

Marshall and Taylor will both be looking to shut out Barnsley tonight and help Malky Mackay’s Bluebirds take another big step towards the Premier League.

After a battling 0-0 draw at Vicarage Road, the Bluebirds know eight points from their last six games would see them promoted no matter what the teams below them do.

There is a growing sense of anticipation surrounding them, but Taylor said that within the camp itself it is very much business as usual.

“It was important not to get beaten at Watford. Now we have a big match against Barnsley,” said Taylor.

“It is our game in hand and a chance to make the gap at the top even bigger.

“Barnsley are on a good run of form, they are fighting for their lives just as we are fighting for promotion.

“We will have to keep the standards high and approach things in the right way.

“But we are very confident right now and we will prepare in the right way.

“Promotion is not at the front of our thoughts right now.

“We want to be in the Premier League, we want to be classed as Premier League players and everything that comes with it.

“If we go up the players might be regarded as legends at the club, but we are not looking that far ahead now.”

Tonight’s clash is the first of three home encounters for Cardiff, a sequence of games which could bring Premier League football at last.

Taylor admitted it would be nice to seal the deal in front of the Bluebirds’ faithful, adding: “Obviously we would all prefer to clinch promotion at home.

“It would be a reward for the fans who have supported us all season, they have been fantastic.”

as far as 2013 goes, Taylor has been our best player.

He started the season poorly and got a lot of stick for it, but he is showing an amazing level on consistancy and fully deserves a first team place next season.

His performance at wolves away was exceptional.
A good left back :ayatollah:

And yet people still give him grief, saying he's not good enough and what not.

One of the best LBs in this division for sure

It was, and he got virtually no credit for his performance that day
Fans constantly say taylors not good enough and only effective if conway is in front of him,but surely thats a good thing that we have two players working so well together on the left.

for me, its not a case of conway being ahead of him, as in its not all down to the work that he does, more of the fact that noone doesnt get back enough.

If noone was in the side and could work on his workrate up and down the pitch then taylor wouldnt be so exposed all the time. He doesnt even have to do anything, sometimes just being in position can mean a lot.

If we go up, the players, Malky, and all concerned WILL be legends. It would be the greatest achievement in the history of the club. :ayatollah: we tend to throw the word about, but it would be fitting on this occasion.
