With Reading more or less down and out...

Sun Apr 07, 2013 10:33 pm

Would anyone bid for PAVEL POGREBNYAK and/or ADAM LE FONDRE during the pre-season if you were Malky..?

I thought when Reading first signed Pogrebnyak at the start of the season i thought he would shine in the prem but he seems to have an ego and isnt very good but on the other hand, le fondre would be a good signing but i dont think we would need him due to similarities with mason :malky:

He done really well at Fulham on loan last season so has shown he can do it in the Prem its just Reading was never going to provide him with the same amount of goalscoring opportunities as Fulham did last season.

If Blackburn go down - Jordan Rhodes ;) - Le Fondre would be a good squad player.

Don't want any players coming from teams that have gone down in any division sorry. This is a team for winners, not losers.

Your Jordan Rhodes agenda has always been there for all to see mate. You aren't his agent by any chance with Coral just being a second job..?

Don't rate Pogrebnyak, he's living on his first five games for Fulham last January where he scored against some rubbish teams.

Would definitely take Adam le Fondre though.

As far as I'm concerned any striker that scores around 1 in 3 or better in the top flight would be good enough for us.

Fraizer Campbell and nicky Maynard here as good as le fondre if not better imo, and if pobrebnyak hasn't done the business in the premiership with reading he would be too much of a gamble on doing it for us so no. Id like to see us get a goal machine from abroad.

Our two best players this season signed from teams who went down although some time ago now :ayatollah:

Le Fondre would be a great option off the bench, although I'd rather keep Mason and let him progress with us :ayatollah:

I understand what you're saying but I just dont want to break this positive feeling at the club and it only takes one clown to come in and ruin things. I would rather Malky tap into the foreign market and bring in more players of Kim's calibre to be fair.

Look at results after our cup run last year. The players were at that stage deflated and it took them until this season to go again. Can we afford that spell with certain players? We cant afford to have players in the Premier League who only get their head on top of things in January. By then it could be an uphill task.

Ideally I'd rather us keep our core and just do as Swansea did with adding a few bits of foreign talent here and there. People will say we'll struggle but these are people who glory support and are ignorant of the Championship and what it takes to get out of this division. Swansea were solid in defence the season they went up which gave them the platform to attack teams repeatedly and wear them down.

I would love to see a diamond formation next season with pretty much the players we got now plus Maynard and Fraizer up front. Both can get goals and its the supply that is needed. Get Bellamy left, a solid right winger in who can deliver constantly into the box and go past his man and Kim in the middle with Aron behind sweeping up play as De Guzman does for the Jacks and we'll be fine.

I personally think we should be signing players capable of a top 10 finish. I think the boardroom of our club is better than Premiership "Also-Rans" and I think they believe that also.

We already have Fraizer, Maynard, Bellamy and Mason as strikers. I think one more would do. I don't think anyone from Reading is the answer. I personally would like to get someone like Diego Forlan. Much improved striker who, at the latter stages of career, would probably be cheaper.

£10m on a striker would not worry me

If you look on transfermkt you will see he is only valued at £875,000. I didn't say he was coming here (I wouldn't have access to that info) but a player of his calibre is what I think we will need next year.

Lots of players names are being mentioned but they are the sort of names that you associate with a side in the lower half of the Premiership.

This is going to be an unusual experience for many of us. Few of us have seen Cardiff in the top flight and therefore the prospect of paying a lot of money on players appears weird. I think it will happen. I think the dream is here. The giant has awoken and we will start to see even more quality players playing for us.

I have always said it, and I will repeat it, I fully expect us to finish top 10 next season - and I will be putting my money where my mouth is :)

Malky has gone on record as saying that he only wants to bring players in that are better than those already at he club.So perhaps we can all set our sights a bit higher lads.

I agree forlan is the type of striker we should be looking to get

i would seriously go for jordan rhodes, can see him getting goals in the premier league and no way blackburn will be able to command the 8m they paid for him if they go down.

For a price of around 5m i think its an excellent signing.

Hudson came from a relegated charlton team aswell.
I'd like us to sign tarabbt when qpr go down. but I got a feeling we will get mackie instead

Wouldn't mind Le fondre but Pogrebnyak is too over rated. I 'd go for Hal Robson-Kanu though.
