BEATING BARNSLEY WILL MEAN

Sun Apr 07, 2013 1:27 pm

If we win against Barnsley on Tuesday we will be 11 points clear of Watford in 3rd, meaning we would have to lose 4 of our last 5 games not to get promoted and Watford would have to win at least 4 of their remaining 5 games to overtake us, if the unbelievable happened.

Another massive step towards our goal on Tuesday, hopefully a big crowd will be there to spur the team on :malky:

Carl, six more points will be enough :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

82 points is enough to get promoted in 4 of the last 5 seasons

Also be the first team to 80 points and in the past 5 years the first team to 80 got promoted 4/5 as champions

As the saying goes "There are no easy games"

But I think we will be too good for Barnsley even if Campbell is missing.

Hope there is over 24K crowd and even more against Forest & Charlton.

Then we can get a sell out against Bolton as we play as champions.

It will also mean we will have won more points at this level, in a 46 match season, than any team in our clubs history.

Just another record for MM.

I still think one win will be enough.

Win the next two and I'm all but certain.

If we win on Tuesday then it will mean Saturday's game v Forrest could potentially be a promotion party. If we win and Watford fail to win. :malky:

Correct Carl. This game is now the most important game of the season and should be a sell out. The team need us to play our part in winning this game. I would love the echo to run what this game means on the back page tomorrow or Tuesday and encourage people to get tickets. :ayatollah:

It's these type of 'records' that we need to highlight a lot.

This club needs to build on success, all and any success.

New stadium, wealthy owners, biggest crowds for an age, 2 cup finals, league leaders for 6 months, Championship winners, highest ever points......the more this continues the better.

We may not win the premier league next season but, the next record will be to beat our highest ever league standing, winning cup finals and playing amongst Europe's elite to provide more history and legacy for our club.

We're clinching automatic against Forest, Champions against Burnley.......then we go on.... :ayatollah:

Goal average (not difference) - from memory if we'd scored one more goal or conceded one less we would have been Champions of Division 1, beating Huddersfield to second place.

Happy for another smart a**e to correct me mind :ayatollah: :old:

You are indeed correct, it was the 1923/24 season, if we had scored a penalty we were awarded in the 0-0 draw against Birmingham on the last day we would have won the title, but as it was we lost out on goal average, had goal difference been used we would have been champions of Division One.

Maybe next year :D

I believe it was 0.01 of a goal in statistical terms that we lost by! :(

Only through the playoffs though. For automatic promotion, 82 points would have been good enough only once in the last 15 years.

think you got that wrong Martin, 82 was good enough for 5 seasons in a row before last season (when a massive 87 was needed)
