Barnett?

Sun Apr 07, 2013 12:11 pm

Anyone know the situation with his loan? will it be extended?
He has been great so far and Connolly getting injured yesterday we need to keep a hold of Barnett as long as possible :ayatollah:

Says he wants to stay and Norwich dont need him. Makes sense to have him here. I'm sure it will get sorted out soon!

Don't think he's a PL defender if we get promoted

Maybe not but with Hudson out he's crucial at this level

I think he will stay for the rest of the season. But if we are already promoted before his loan expires we might not bother on extending his loan. In the Premier League I think that he would be good defensive cover.

He's better than Lappin and we signed him on a 18 month contract didn't we? He doesn't even make the bench.

Lappin was on a free, probably a minimal wage and was the best value for money we were going to get at Left Back at the time.

He has an 18 month contract because it'd be unreasonable to expect him to take a 6 month contract. It's all about give and take.

I fully expect Lappin to leave in the summer.

The difference is Barnett is a good championship level CB and I highly doubt he'll be released or available on a free.

Agree on both - if we were to give Barnett a similar deal to Lappin we then have the option of either using him like Norwich did (cover) or selling him on - he would have a resale value if he is on an 18 month contract.

Barnett's value to Norwich is much less, so they might let him go on a free - the advantage to them is removal of his wage from their bill.

If they offered him round though I wouldn't be surprised to see a team pay a few hundred thousand for him even if Norwich had to subsidise some of his wages.

Hes played so well for us that Norwich may recall and play him
he deserves to be here when we secure promotion and join in the end of season celebrations.Dont know about a permanent deal i guess malky will have to sort that out at the end of the season
Ill tell you something though id take the likes of Barnett over chris ££ amba any day of the week
