It's exactly like that in our ground, I sit in the Ninian Stand next to the away section and you can hardly hear the Canton most of the time.
The acoustics is definitely the problem in our stadium. Carl mentioned that we'll be filling in the big gaps with extra seats once we're promoted to the Premier League so hopefully that will keep the sound in.

Strangely, you get a better atmosphere at places like Norwich, West Brom, Fulham etc. Rather than the big clubs, and it probably is something to do with too many day trippers having a day out at the big clubs whereas the smaller clubs attract only the proper supporters? Spurs was quite good though?

The acoustics is nonsense. Scottish and Belgium fans managed to create a great atmosphere. I sit in the Ninian dead on between the Canton and the away fans. I can hear the Canton on occasion but the singing tends to die down after ten minutes and it's silence the rest of the game.
Last season I remember a handful of Watford fans outsang our whole stadium, embarrassing to say the least. It's the new type of fan and the younger generations for sure.
