According to the Football League rules, in section 38 (registration of club colours), 38.1 states that "each club is authorised on one occasion per Season to play a Home match in an 'away' or 'alternative' strip".
Although it is possibly getting a bit late in the season, personally, I would love Cardiff City to take advantage of this rule, and to play one game in blue. I have mentioned this to Vince Alm (way back near the start of the season), and I have been in touch with Steve Borley about it. So far I have not had any official reply to say that it definitely cannot happen.
You may be aware that Exeter City applied to change their home kit, on a temporary basis I believe, to their away kit because of their away form. This application was denied. I'm not sure of the grounds, but I'm guessing it was because they wanted to change for more than one game.
This was the response I got from the Football League when I asked them about this, and whether it would still be possible for Cardiff to play one game in blue -
"Thank you for your email. Unfortunately we cannot comment on individual conversations between The League and its member clubs. In this instance you would need to contact Exeter City. With regards to your question regarding Cardiff City. If the club wish to play in Blue for one match, the club would have to make a formal request in the normal way as per regulation 38.1.Thank you for contacting The Football League."
So although they couldn't comment on Exeter's application, they are clearly not ruling out the possibility that Cardiff could play one game in blue.
My personal feeling is that it could be the Charlton game on April 16th. I think it's very likely Cardiff will be promoted, or as good as promoted by this time, so the game itself would have less significance. To see the team come out in blue, perhaps for the last time in the forseeable future, would be a great sight, and one to really lift people's spirits. I honestly believe it would be a crying shame for the club not to take advantage of this unique rule that would allow it to happen.

Will never happen while Tan is in charge.
Besides, I believe we'll be up against Forest in nine days time.

If Tan has stopped the team playing in our Blue away shirt, there's no chance he'll let us play in Blue at home.

Even just Hull away would be nice. Just have to think at the moment anything would be a bonus. And a nice gesture by the club for the dedication we have shown as supporters by sticking by our club
