goal scoring striker

Wed Apr 03, 2013 10:10 am

If hopefully when we get into the prem we need a consistent goal scorer in my opinion I know we got Campbell and Maynard when he becomes fit but I reckon we need one more like Darren bent , Defoe Etc a goalscorer who knows how to score in the prem maybe even Charlie Austin could be tempted with premier league football what you guys think?

lets get to the prem first, finish the season and then start worrying..

Know we got to concentrate on getting there 1st nut we got on hand on the championship I just think we will need to get someone like them into the squad

would rather maynard and campbell before bent...

bent hasnt had a decent season since 2009... plus his wages would be ridiculous. not for me.. id rather we add a menace type striker, strong, hold up ball and bring others into play... i.e. a lambert or holt type player...

i think maynard mason and campbell will do ok with bellers but maybe a better replacement for helguson? i also think the football we have played to get where we are will be swapped for more positive tactics..and the football we have played this year will give us a solid "hard to break down hard to beat" attitude in the prem, malky has taught them to start fighting early and that will be important against teams like fulham wigan sunderland stoke etc who fight to stay up every year.

Yeah I agree the wages and we have got a good strike force I just thought we might need like a goalscorer who has played prem football but we will have to wait and see how they do

No, I think with the right set-up Maynard and Campbell could be deadly together, even at prem level. Trust me, I know premier teams are good but if we go into every game like we did against Liverpool with our now better team then we've got a good chance. The team just needs belief and if anyone can do that it's Malky :ayatollah:
What I do think we need is a holding player behind our front two for kimbo/Bellamy/whitts and a couple of good continental style full backs with very good distribution and I promise you we should be set.

Someone big and strong up front would do because we have the pace of Campbell, Maynard and Bellamy. Good examples would be Lukaku, Benteke and Bony. But I doubt we could get those three.

Maynard was surplus to West Hams squad in the premiership and Campbell the same for Sunderland. They along with Mason are good backups to have in a premiership squad but honestly believe we need to invest in two strikers who are a class above them if our aim is to stay in the premiership. Also need to strengthen the defensive ranks where I'd be looking for at least three players who are a class above Turner, Taylor and Connolly.

bit harsh, firstly different players in different circumstances will to better/worse.

Lambert and Holt are two examples, around the age of 30? and having good seasons in the prem with no experience.

I see no reason someone like mason couldnt step it up and have a good career in the premier leauge, same as Campbell, whose career has been blighted by injury, hes never really had a good run at it.

As far as the defense goes, i think Taylor has been one of our best players this season, especially since the turn of the year, im happy with him to be our left back next season, though we do need a right back.

There are two premier leagues, the elite 5/6 clubs that are show games will probably beat us comfortably home and away and the 13 others who are not much better than us now.

Look at the FA cup results, 2012 league cup final and the relegated teams that on paper should always bounce back up.

Believe in the young players we have now, probably have to let Conway ,Noone, Cowie, Helguson & McPhail go and replace them with potential first teamers, but I hope we won't go stupid.

Malky wants young hungry kids, not has beens. Blackburn on paper reputation should have murdered us, how many times are you disappointed when you see "stars" in the flesh.

Remember "Frazier Campbell will always score goals........" :malky: :malky: :malky:

I'd be happy enough doing a Derby and sticking with the current squad but making it clear that we are just doing it for the tv money and if we manage to stay up then its a huge bonus. If they want to have a more serious go then we need more than just five senior defenders and I'm afraid one of those has all his good days behind him. Maynard, Campbell and Mason could be a success in the premiership but they would all be a gamble because they haven't done it before. I'd put the money into the strikeforce because I believe goalscorers are the key to teams staying up. Just look at Lukaku at West Brom and how easily they have found mid table this season.

Alright you blunt knob
I'm just saying everyone is saying after we lose that we won't make it next season with our current squad, I think if Swansea can do it so easily then so can we
