Team v Watford

Tue Apr 02, 2013 10:04 pm

I'd go with this.

If we invite Watford to attack us, we're f*cked. We need to attack and look for the goal if not 2 goals. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Not for me, we need 3 in midfield so it's the same team as Monday for me, or at worst a like for like change. :ayatollah:

I feel we would chop and change from Bellamy up front, to going on the wing. :ayatollah:

I'm not sure if Kim or whits are best used out wide so it may be only one of the other can play in the same starting line up. Gunner as the destroyer, Mutch for the box to box and either Kim or whits to pull the trigger. Bellers wide and Conway for his defensive aspect or noone for more pace. Great to have options :ayatollah:

I've got a feeling Mutch will score a screamer too. :ayatollah:

Hope so as he's had a tough season and had to be patient. We haven't scored many from outside the box this season so we are due one or two :ayatollah:

Agree, mate. When Mutch plays he has a go from outside the box and it's usually only Conway or Gunnarsson who does that. :ayatollah:

Personally I'd go for exactly same team as yesterday but I've got a funny feeling Whitts might replace Conway.

I'd definitely stick with the 4-5-1 system, at the beginning of the season and last year I dont think we had the players to suit it but with Fraizer leading the line and with Mutchy and Kimbo supplying balls into his feet instead of hoofing it long, I think we should stick with it. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I trust Malky to make the right decision and will back whatever he decides to go with. :malky:

I also feel Malky will put Whitts in instead of Conway as he said "Whitts just needed a rest".

I wouldn't be too dissapointed if he did decide to bring Whitts because the quality he has is immense and is likely to cause problems with his delivery from open play and set pieces.

But I liked the way we set up against Blackburn, with our central midfield dominating everything our two wingers were real outlets, both really direct and got us going forward.

Definitely this. ^^^^^Been saying it for a few weeks now. I didn't like 4-5-1 earlier in the season as HH is too slow to play that role on his own but since we signed Campbell this is now possible. Against Blackburn, for the first time in ages, we controlled the midfield which allowed us to keep the ball (mainly) on the ground and play to Campbell's strengths. Totally agree with you. I'd keep it exactly the same for the rest of the season. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Marshall.

Taylor Turner Barnett Connolly

Bellamy Kim Gunnarsson Mutch Noone

Campbell.

Re: Team v Watford

Definitely the same team that started Monday as this team have given our best performance for many months. How some of you can drop anyone from Monday's team is beyond me!

I've seen Taylor getting a lot of praise recently and and rightfully so, but who's usually in front of Taylor running his balls off? Conway! How anyone can suggest Whittingham or Noone playing ahead of Conway away to Watford is crazy imo. We need Conway's energy and work rate, especially away from home. He runs himself into the ground every game and is very under appreciated.

Yup keep the same team for me after that display. I feel malky will bring Whitts back in though

I would watch Noone for Conway instead.

Like I said I'd definitely go with the same team as Monday, nobody deserves to lose their place, the balance of the team was the best it's been for a long time.

BUT I've got a funny feeling Whitts will start and I think it could be Conway to make way for him.

Re: Team v Watford

I hope we use an unchanged team v Blackburn! Malky should use the same formation and tactics and I fully expect the players to go for it in front of a sell out away end! It'll be a tough game but I'm confident we can get at least a draw. If things are not working out we can always bring Craig Noone, Whitts and Heidar back in from the bench. Mutch and Kim deserve a start after Monday's performance. If Campbell took a knock Mason should start he made a good impact against Blackburn so he'd start for me :ayatollah:

Re: Team v Watford

Wed Apr 03, 2013 1:11 pm

4-5-1 again for Malky.

Marhsy

Connoly
Barnett
Turner
Tayls

Conway
Kimbo
Mutch
Gunnar
Bellers

Campbell

MORE OF THE SAME PLEASE!!! BLOOBIRDS :ayatollah: :malky:

Re: Team v Watford

id play the same team.

you cant really justify bringing whitts in for kim or mutch really after thier performances monday.

more important than the selection is the formation, i feel we absolutely have to stick with the same 451 and try to boss the game from the middle of the park

I said to bring in Whitts for Conway as that's what Malky will probably do as he said that "Whitts just needed a rest".

Re: Team v Watford

I want it to be the same line-up as against Blackburn. But I've got a feeling that Malky may add Whittingham and Noone to the starting line-up whilst sending Mutch and Conway to the bench. I don't want that to happen though because I thought that Mutch and Conway were very effective against Blackburn.

Re: Team v Watford

he seems to like playing conway though, probably more of a defensive option on the wing than noone, and away from home i cant see noone starting, you might be right about mutch/whitts though. He might think two games in 5 days is too much considering he has been out for a long time.

I agree with the OP that Malky will change the formation around, but not the personel.

Watford will be unsure how we're going to line up, giving the same XI but 4-4-2 may cause them problems.

Conway and Bellamy give you the speed with Kim the control and a solid foundation in the middle. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
