Whittingham

Mon Apr 01, 2013 11:01 pm

Looked well pissed off today after scoring the penalty, was speaking to a fella who used to work on the stadium a lot yesterday over a few beers and he said last season a few of the youngsters went out drinking last year, Blake, mason and some others along with whiting ham and the main topic if cobversation was Mackay and how much they all hated him, whittingham and Blake we the biggest cristisers particularly whitts as he is pissed off playing out of position and well farcy wast around too long after this incident so I'm guessing the guy weret lying in fairness as it would kind of make senses, I like Malky in fairness and although a little slow at making changes o the squad he does get things right eventually, he does need to free whitts up more tho

Whitts never celebrates goals anyway.

I think he has signed 3 new contracts since MM has been here so it can't be to bad for him :ayatollah:

Yeah I also thought this so he can't be that unhappy haven't said that I was told before he likes it in Cardiff an family are settled so maybe that outweighs his frustration of playing out of position etc

what a load of bollocks, what pissed me off today is that we have some so called fans BOOING Whitts as he came on today. f*cking disgusting.

I wouldn't be happy if I was played out of position.

He isn't getting played out of position. Teams were sussing him out and marking him out of the game forcing him to play deep. Whitts is not mobile enough is the problem, but today the midfield 3 of Gunner, Mutch and Kim was outstanding. Also thought Whitts played well when he came on but shouldnt start next week

Sussing him out? Oh come off it. Just look at him when he starts.. he puts himself and sits right infront of the defence and even MM came out and defended him about the slating he got and was complementing him on playing in the defensive roll he put him in.

He doesn't get pushed back.

Against Wolves and Leeds at the start of the season Mutch was in the midde of the defence and Whittingham was in a more advanced attacking roles.

He is told to sit deep by Mackay when he isn't a defensive midfielder so he's obviously out of position! Don't think anyone will argue he's out of position that actually understands football! Whitts has said it himself and after 20 years in the game he should know what position he plays best in ffs

Of course we were getting sussed out. Teams were marking him out of the game and stopped all creativity in the midfield. How can you explain how well he started the season to how shite he has been playing recently? He has been playing the exact same role. Teams were targetting him

Re: Whittingham

Gunnar and Mutch are typical DM's as they have pace power can attack and very good defensively whittingham was brought up playing as winger so has very little defensive skill typical of wingers, but as he's aged he's been moved into a roaming AM Role which suits his style well hence why DJ played mcphail to sit and whitts to attack hence why whitts was free scoring under jones and isn't now it's pretty plain for anyone with intelligence to see

100% correct dando I think cj bluebird is forgetting Mutch was the deep midfielder at the start o the season hence why whitts was scoring more cos Mutch was doin the donkey work of course whitts will stop scoring when he's day on our Hal way line when we attack

Whitts was free scoring when he played out wide not when he was in the centre by the way. As for not being defensively minded he played many a game as a left back at Villa. His problem is he lacks pace and if he's to be playing that creative role in the middle he needs alot of protection. As I said he played well when he came on today and I think a midfield of Whitts gunner and Mutch could work really well

Mutch was playing further forward than Whitts was at the start of the season. Whitts lost alot of confidence over the last few months when his form dropped

I also agree with that midfield which is my point if he pushed up with two DM's he would score far more but a two pairing in te centre with whitts sitting is silly as he isn't good enough defensively

Re: Whittingham

CJ you're saying it like they had a player glued next to Whittingham all game.

Whittingham has not been sussed out.

Mutch wasn't playing further forward he was just pushing forward.

Re: Whittingham

any 3 out of our 4 top midfielders would do the job! Were fortunate to have 2 strong players in mutch and gunnar and 2 creative in whits and kimbo to choose from

What a load of old cobblers

Re: Whittingham

We have one defensive midfielder and thats Kiss. Malky doesn't play with a DM, he wants Whitts to be a continuity safe pair of hands to pull the strings. He is not there to cover the defence, so he is not a DM if anything Malky wants him to be a deep lying playmaker (in championship manager speak) as he trust no one else to do the job:

Kiss- A stopper not sure if he can pass
Cowie - Best attribute is his engine- wasted there
Gunnar - Lots effort, tough, can't pass well enough
Mutch - Probably bought with a pairing of him and whitts as the 2 in the middle- Hasn't even settled in the team yet.
Kimbo- Can't trust him to do a stepover and lose the ball far too deep
McPhail- Yes, but his best days are long gone
Ralls - Young kid, maybe in a few years.

So we are left with Whitts, who is probably out of position to gain the most from him as an individual, but the best player we have for current malky's system. I doubt he will be there next season.

As for not liking Malky- Good he is not their friend he is their boss.
