How did our midfield do?

Mon Apr 01, 2013 6:45 pm

How did our midfield look today without Whittingham starting?

Had to miss todays game but was intrigued when I saw he wasn't in the starting line up. So what were the pro's/cons of him not being there? Did Kim & Mutch offer more attack/ cutting edge but lack in keeping hold of possession or? Interested to hear.

Brilliant result though, another step closer! :ayatollah:

Neat, tidy, creative, hard working, strong defensively but perhaps of most importance they all complimented each other perfectly.
3 different types of player with good attributes.

Brilliant,

Kim ran the who, but dead balls he is poor to day the least.

Gunnar was immense, aways involved and found himself space.

Mutch lacked a bit of sharpness as he's been out for a while, but was great also.

Kim was superb and Much even better great midfield performance, and threw them, they had probably spent all week planning on how to sto Whits like every other team :ayatollah:

Best I've seen since Wolves at home! Kimbo was fantastic today, thought Mutch was very effective and Gunnar was very neat in passing display and very robust when defending.

Sounds positive, do you think Whitts will slot back in or be dropped more now?

It was an excellent performance, and it would be very hard to justify dropping anyone, but I wouldn't be surprised if Malky changes the team to suit the game and tactics we play from week to week.

Persoanally I would stick with that team next game but think Malky will change it again,I suppose it will keep Watford guessing ....

I meant to add, as we were playing five in midfield, it's hard to compare with a four man midfield that Whits has been a part of for months .........

Was Bellamy not up front with Campbell?

Nice to know we've got plenty of options/ variations

As expected from Bellers :ayatollah:

From the kick off they were organised, sharp and fired up. That was a premiership quality midfield right there and I honestly believe whitts as good as he is may have to stay on the bench for the next couple of games
Gunnarsson is fast becoming my favourite player, mutch was faultless and looked the player that he was at brum.Kimbo was exceptional both going forward and tracking back, nearly kod himself when he threw his body on the line when whitts lost possession
The Best performance in quite a while :malky: :malky: :malky:

Be interesting to see what happens if they play together against Watford with a better midfield?

I agree about Gunnarsson, he is quality and I was glad when he signed that contract extension the other week :malky:
