Paolo Di Canio appointed Sunderlands New Manager......IMHO couldn't manage a Birds Eye Dinner for one.
What a stupid move by Sunderland.

In all fairness he is a bonkers man but speaks sense and demands a lot.. give Sunderland a good kick up the arse is what they need.

Couldn't agree more, What has the guy done in football management to be appointed at a premiership club fighting relegation, and people wonder why so many managers are getting sacked, so many stupid appointments been made this year

Paolo Di Canio has been appointed as the new Sunderland head coach on a two-and-a-half year deal.
The Italian, who left Swindon in February, will take charge from Monday morning and he replaces Martin O'Neill who was sacked on Saturday after the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.
Chairman Ellis Short said: "Paolo is hugely enthused by the challenge that lies ahead of him. He is passionate, driven and raring to get started.
"The sole focus of everyone for the next seven games will be to ensure we gain enough points to maintain our top-flight status.
"I think that the chances of that are greatly increased with Paolo joining us.
"Our fans have shown tremendous patience and understanding this season.
"They have continued to back the team in huge numbers, both home and away, and that is something that continues to inspire all of us in our drive to give them the successful club they deserve.
"That remains our primary aim."
The Sunderland job is only Di Canio's second in management after his spell at Swindon and he was a big success in Wiltshire, guiding the Robins to promotion to League One.
Within seven games of the Premier League season left Sunderland are just one point above the relegation zone and Di Canio's first match will be at Chelsea.
Di Canio, 44, played for Lazio, Juventus, Napoli and AC Milan before making a move to Britain where he played for Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham and Charlton.

Played for some top clubs and he will motivate a team and kick them into shape.
Okay a lack of experience but he will demand a lot which Sunderland need.

A change of tactics and some fighting spirit is what they need.
They got some great players and their not living to their ability.
Expected a lot more from that Stephen Sessesengon and Adam Johnson.

Former senior Labour party MP David Miliband has stepped down from his role at Sunderland following the appointment of Paolo Di Canio as head coach because of the Italian's political views.
Miliband, whose brother Ed is Labour Party leader, quit as vice-chairman and non-executive director, citing Di Canio's "past political statements".
Miliband said: "I wish Sunderland AFC all success in the future. It is a great institution that does a huge amount for the North East and I wish the team very well over the next vital seven games.
"However, in the light of the new manager's past political statements, I think it right to step down."
Di Canio has admitted to having fascist leanings, telling Italian news agency ANSA in 2005: "I am a fascist, not a racist."
Miliband - a former Foreign Secretary - confirmed last week that he is quitting British politics to take up a new job with a US charity in New York.
He had stated that he intended to stay on the Sunderland board despite his move abroad - but Di Canio's appointment has led to a change of heart.

I don't think he'll get away with clipping players around the earhole in the premiership, and I think it's very shortsighted of Sunderland to sack O'Neil, would have been better to work through this bad patch, even if it means going down.
Martin O'Neil was my first choice for Cardiff when we were in the market for a new manager.

He is 1 crazy mother fucker!
Quality player in his day and proofing to be a future success.
He will crush ego's

He's a fascist.
Can't stand him.
Mon Apr 01, 2013 9:25 am
Just because he has facist leanings doesnt mean he's Adolf Hitler.
People associate facism with Hitler, although he he indeed was a facist, he was also mad as a box of frogs.
As with all political agendas facism has some good "policies" its how they are interpreted and put into practice where it fails. Same as communism.

Well there you have it.....the gamble didn't pay off.
I thought it crazy at the time, they would have been better going for someone like Big Mick McCarthy.

The short term gamble paid off massively he kept them up.
Blew it 2 weeks ago v Palace when he publically slated his captain John O Shea.
Was only a matter of time.
