Penalties

Sun Mar 31, 2013 8:09 am

It's about time our luck changed in relation to penalties ! We have been awarded 3 penalties this season, the last being against Watford in October some 26 games ago. There have been certain penalties e.g Campbell against Bristol/ Bellamy against Brighton which we have not been awarded. Posh was the second time this season that we have had 2 penalties awarded against us away from home in the second half, the other being Palace.

It makes you wonder how some referees react when it comes to those 50/50 penalty decisions. Probably being at the top of the league does not help. The long barren run also coincides with Whitts last goal. It would be nice to see both stats change soon and onwards and upwards :ayatollah:

We shouldn't need to rely on pens to be given, We got players in the team that can score goals and they have got to step up to the mark for remaining games :ayatollah: :malky: :ayatollah:

I agree, the team do need to start performing again but it would be nice to get a few of those 50/50 decisions to help us on our way.

It so happens yesterday that there was no threat on our goal for either Posh penalty. Both players were going away from goal nowhere near the 6 yard box. Why dangle a leg out and make the refeer make a decision ? Silly mistakes.

You're right.the Cowie pen was the most stupid thing I've seen on a pitch since that Leicester pen against us in the play offs. He was running out if the penalty area ffs

Likewise with Connelly. There were another 2 defenders behind Conelly and in front of Marshall.

Regardless if they were penalties or not neither player had to make a challenge. Both Posh players were running out of the box in the opposite direction from goal.

Needless mistakes and points thrown away !

Teams that launch the ball into the penalty box rarely get pens. Wingers get pens generally, one wasn't even on the bench the other came on and gave us impetus.
