Old Fan - New Fan

Fri Mar 29, 2013 10:28 am

Over the many years I have followed the City the present season is the best by far and the Cup Final a close second.

Reading the message boards a few fans say the game is different in many ways compared to the past.

A few drone on that the atmosphere isn't the same....... thankfully we no longer have a few hundred idiots making threatening gestures, throwing coins, all from the safety of behind a security cordon. These same people are the ones responsible for ruining it for many. Have you seen so many women and kids at a game?

These are the same people who sat up in Block A of the grandstand and publicly looked down their nose on fans from the Bob Bank, Grange End etc....... the reality was they were either hooligans or hangers on......voyeurs.

Give me the new fan any day over that certain old type of fan any day.

I have read here some would prefer us to be a Millwall than a Fulham........how very sad.

I look forward to being in the premiership.....I look forward to no taxman knocking the door. If that means playing in red then so be it. No welsh tycoon was prepared to put money into us and never has been.

Message boards are full of fans thinking the world is waiting for our pearls of wisdom.......they are not ....they usually laugh at us. (inc. me) If you can't enjoy this season and are tired of football then stop whinging about it. The amount of fans who say they have walked away or hate VT still go on about it or go to games. The reality is they like to run with the fox and hunt with the hounds at the same time.

Premiership here we come .........and I'm not apologising for it!

Can't argue with that. :malky:

Bit harsh on the old A section at NP don't forget that section only held a few of the many, however I do agree that until VT turned up we were always looking over our shoulders for the tax man and other creditors.

Although the debt at the minute is rising I believe Mr. Tan has a vision for the club and I for one welcome his investment. If he walks away we are dead anyway so lets all live for today and enjoy what we are witnessing. MM is the best manager we have had for years and a team we can follow to the Premiership. I am 63 and am not going to miss my beloved Bluebirds play the best teams in the country. Roll on next season. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Grandstand A held some of the most loyal and passionate Cardiff City fans including an ex director.

You need to come off your high moral ground. That was a disgusting judgement.

Block A comments apart (I wasn't one of them but the ones I know are as ardent fans as any ;) ) you make some valid points but unfortunately we do have a number of so-called fans who will NEVER be happy in life never mind with what goes on at the football club and VT is now a soft target for them despite his unbelievable investment

Sad but true

Two short years ago the same people were slating the club for not having the 'experience or football knowledge' to be able to select a 'worthy' manager for the club after the placement of DJ on 'gardening leave' (I was admittedly one who wanted DJ to have one more season but I didn't 'knock' the clubs choice of replacement)

They chose Malky and what a monumental feck up that decision has proven to be, eh? (Sarcatically, of course) :laughing6:

This is an excellent post :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I can't comment on Block A of the Grandstand, as I used to sit in the middle of the Bob Bank, but the comments are certainly fair in relation to many of those who constantly bemoan the lack of atmosphere at the new Stadium. What they really would want is to behave like kids making threatening songs and gestures at away fans - that's far too puerile and medieval for me, and I much prefer the atmosphere we now have :ayatollah:

I personally love the new stadium and much prefer it to Ninian Park (although I loved that for decades as well, when it was all we had), and this season has definitely been the best ever :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: (until next year that is  )

Very true, I agree with the OP apart from the block a comment like yourself, and again I was amongst those who wouldn't have minded jones having 1 more year. But that was without knowing the ins and out of what jones allowed players to get away with. Still role on the premiership year(s).

I'm far from stupid enough to think we will stay up. Actually think we will go back down. But I'm looking forward to watching the guys have the chance that they have themselves created to see how they match personally against premiership opposition. If you can't be in the stadium and enjoy seeing our club winning games, coming close to not only promotion but gaining a winners medal I'd think you would need to stop going and find another interest. Or go and do the pre match stuff with mates, if that's all you enjoy and stay outside whilst the game is on, because how can you be a fan and not love your side winning games and being the best club ver the course of the season. It's what it's all about! It's cardiff city FOOTBALL CLUB not cardiff city BANTER PUB AND MATES CLUB.

And how does anyone know how shearer would have done? We can talk about it all day long, but nobody will ever know. How often does a club get its first choice boss? I'd say nowhere near as much as they would like at championship and below level.

They chose malky in the end of those that wanted to manage us, and they got it spot on

They never went running back. Standard procedure is that a shortlist of managers will be drawn up, either by cv/interview or inside suggestion. Just because shearer said no to the job doesn't mean they went running back to malky. He would have been on the shortlist meaning he was an acceptable choice as manager of the club.

No no, it's fully correct you fool. If you are unsure look at who the manage is :thumbright: :thumbright:

I'd suggest the first choice for most clubs when changing manager are morinho, SAF, etc etc. so malky won't be to fussed!

Grandstand A held some of the most loyal and passionate Cardiff City fans including an ex director.

You need to come off your high moral ground. That was a disgusting judgement.

I sat in block A and lower A and from experience probably 95% of the fans in there were into the hooligan side of it aswell..I enjoyed it amongst them to so im not slagging them off..

Hooligan? Or just aggressive banter? ;) :ayatollah:
