Cowie: Bellamy's hunger vital to Cardiff City

Fri Mar 29, 2013 5:42 am

AS Cardiff City return to Championship action there may be doubts over Craig Bellamy’s fitness, but team-mate Don Cowie believes the frontman remains vital to the Bluebirds’ promotion hopes.

Bellamy played every second of Wales two World Cup qualifiers against Scotland and Croatia and took a heavy knock in the second half of the defeat to the Croatians in Swansea on Tuesday evening.

But with a big Easter weekend looming, with Mackay and his men travelling to Peterborough tomorrow and welcoming Blackburn on Monday, concerns have been raised about Bellamy’s availability.

“He won’t accept anything less than 100 per cent from his team-mates and as an individual you’ve got someone who is still extremely quick, sharp and clever in his movement.

“Bellers might be 33, but he’s still got so much to offer. You can see the hunger and the standards he sets and the desire he has to be the best at everything he does.”
