I think if we win three games, it will be enough to see us over the line if I'm honest, but mathematically speaking we won't tie it up until the results of our rivals are know to us. I'd say we should know in about 5 games time.

Of course the normal way would be to look at our fixtures and pick out where we can pick the points up to get us over the line.

However, this is the Championship so it would be better to look at Hull & Watford's fixtures and see where they will f**k it up and do the job for us...

We are experiencing the best season we have had since I've been supporting the Bluebirds which is over 55 years yet we still beat each other up. Do I want red no I don't do I want to see my beloved club playing at the highest level you bet I do I hope we wrap up promotion asap so we can all enjoy what we have achieved.

Then during the summer we can look forward to seeing who Malkie will bring in cement our place in the EPL.

Could be done in 3 games. The "Perfect Storm" of results would see us promoted with a win at Watford but that would mean us winning our next three games, Watford losing their next three and Palace losing their next two.

More likely that we look at the potential 3rd place finishes.

Palace can only get 89pts, Watford can only get 90pts but thats if they beat Hull which means Hull would only get 87pts. Vice versa Hull can get 92pts but only if they beat Watford which means Watford can only get 89pts.

All this means that the highest possible 3rd place pts total is 89pts (for Palace or Watford).

So if we want certain promotion we need 90pts. To have a promotion party at CCS we would need 15pts from our next 8 games. A form guide of at least 5-0-3 or 4-3-1. This would be a tall order but will become easier every time the others drop points.

As I cannot see all three going unbeaten I would think a form guide from the next 8 games of 4-0-4 or or even 3-2-3 would give us a party at the end of the Bolton game.

Easiest way of looking at it Tony.

If we win our game in hand we will be 12 points ahead of 3rd, that is 4 games.

We will have 8 games to go so basically if we match 3rd place in the next 4 games we will be 12 points clear of them with 4 games left. Still mathematically possible for 3rd to catch us but the pressure on them to catch us, well if you was a betting man you would bet on 3rd NOT matching us.

Yeah worth putting a bet on 4 games we will be promoted.

I don't claim this as my own work but it does give you a clear defined outcome for all potential points totals. This is the output from a results generator that compares absolutely every permutation for every game left in the Championship.

Potential points total on the left. If it says "Yes" in a column for "Chance Wins Title" or "Up To Premier League" it means its definite and WILL happen. The percentages are rounded up so 100% can probably be 99.99%, but pretty much certain to happen.

The great FACT from this table is that we do not even figure in the 3rd place column until we are facing a finishing total of 85pts. Even a lowly form guide of 3-3-3 is looking pretty certain.

Remember these permutations take into account perfect finishes for other clubs. So it all looks good.
