My Wish

I am not renewing next season and I have my reasons. The re-brand tested my patience but for various reasons it just doesn't feel the same any more. I can't explain why but it's just how I feel. I am set to become a father for the first time and want to take some time out of being a season ticket holder to gain some perspective and spend more time with the family. These are my opinions and decisions and just as I have respected others for renewing or not renewing I would hope others do so with my decision.

My wish is that all this in-fighting stops. We are all Cardiff fans. Even those who are not renewing will still be wanting the lads and the team to do well for the sake of those fans who are sticking with it. I hope that red does not clash with blue and vice versa. There are enough fans from other clubs who we should direct our dislike at as opposed to each other. I wish that we could all respect each other's decisions.

Football and following Cardiff City means something different to each one of us. I understand why people aren't renewing for next season when it just doesn't feel right for them but I also understand why others are tolerating the changes at the club because they feel they deserve this time in the sun. It is all fair enough and I don't have a bad word to say about any fan in this re-brand debate. No argument is right. No argument is wrong.

For the sake of the club, let's stop the bickering and division. Hold your opinions and be proud of your stance but don't be bitter to those that do not agree with you. We are Cardiff City. We might not all share the same views but isn't that what makes us fans at the club so great? We are so diverse and every fan brings something different to the table.

This season will be my last for the time being as a Cardiff City season ticket holder but I wish the club and all you fans that are renewing the best. I will still be cheering the Bluebirds on and hopefully I will be able to come back one day. Cardiff City are going places and you all deserve to see it happen!

Nice post mate. Best of luck with your new family - it's an amazing journey you're about to start and for me it put football into perspective. I think it's why I've been so calm about the rebrand.

Mind you, after a couple of months of sleepless nights and nappies, you'll be begging to go to football for the break!

Hahaha, yeah. I think when my son is old enough I will take him to one Cardiff City game, one Cardiff Blues game, one Glamorgan cricket game and one Cardiff Devils ice hockey game then get us season tickets for whichever sport he prefers. I don't want my personal principles stop him from having the chance to follow a sport, even if he does choose Cardiff. I will suck it up for him. Don't need to worry about that for now. I'm sure Vincent Tan won't be here in 5-6 years time anyway!

Good luck becoming a father for the first time I know when My first child was born I felt on top of the the world. I hope you and your family enjoy your time together and hopefully you will get back to supporting our Bluebirds in the future.
