Olofinjana to SWFC

Another former City player going to Jones. I thought that he was good with us but he will not reach those standards again IMO.

Quality in a 4-5-1 but awful in a 4-4-2. Personally, I always liked him though. :ayatollah:

Seyi Olofinjana: Sheffield Wednesday sign Hull midfielder

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Hull City midfielder Seyi Olofinjana on loan until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old, who is out of contract with the Tigers in the summer, joined Hull for £3m from Stoke in 2009.

He played 16 times for Steve Bruce's side this season but has not featured since coming on as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Blackburn on 19 February.

The Nigeria international is likely to make his Owls debut against Barnsley on Saturday.

I likes him but Jones was playing him while he was injured because we had no-one else hense why he didn't reach the standards people expected from him all the time.Hardly his fault was it..?

Good signing for them, hit and miss mostly but when in a relegation battle a big strong player like that can be massive for a team.

Great when he first came here.

Great lad in person and he scored a few goals for us.

Including against Hull. As the managers agreed to let him and Gerrard play against their parent teams.

Sheff Weds have also added Stuart Holden to their squad today -

Stuart Holden: Sheffield Wednesday sign Bolton midfielder

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Bolton midfielder Stuart Holden on a one-month loan deal.

The 27-year-old has made just four appearances for Wanderers since sustaining a knee injury against Manchester United in March 2011.

He is the second midfielder to join the club in as many days after Hull City's Seyi Olofinjana joined on Wednesday.

The American international could make his debut for the Owls against Barnsley on Saturday.

Wednesday boss Dave Jones told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He just wants to get going again, that is the most important thing to him.

"He's quality on the ball, he's got an eye for a goal and if hadn't had the injuries he's had then we wouldn't have been able to get him."

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Steve Howard on loan from Hartlepool until the end of the season.

The 36-year-old striker, who will wear shirt number 29, goes straight into the squad for Wednesday's South Yorkshire derby clash against Barnsley at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Howard began his career with Hartlepool in August 1995 and made 164 appearances for the Pools, scoring 32 goals, before joining Northampton Town in February 1999.

However, it was at Luton Town where Howard made his name, making over 200 appearances and scoring 96 goals in a five-year spell at Kenilworth Road.

Derby County was Howard's next club in July 2006 - the forward signing a three-year deal for a fee of £1m - before a £1.5m move to Leicester in January 2008.

Howard was named as Leicester's Player of the Year for the 2008-9 season before re-joining League One Hartlepool in the summer of 2012.

Smacks of desperation all these signings.

I recall Oli playing his first game for us against Derby away where he partnered Danny Drinkwater. TLG gave a glowing report of them both saying this is what we have been missing in midfield all these years. Things look good specially as we had finally got hold of Bellamy then overnight everyone got injured.

Oli was the first one out of them all to return against Palace at home and there was a huge cheer when his name was announced. From that game onward his weaknesses became clear, his distribution was primary school standard and he ended up looking very average. I don't think anyone was sad to see him return to Hull. He initially came to us with Gerrard going to Hull which pleased most but opinions changed and come the end of the season most were glad to see Gerrard back and Oli go. That's how bad it got.

Since then Oli has been out injured but has got himself back onto the bench I believe. He was not brilliant with us and I cannot see him being any better now, actually a lot worse. For Jones to bring him in toHillborough, well it might be worth putting money on the Owls going down.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who feels like about olofinjana because I thought he was class when first come in and then went slowly went down hill until he crashed right down

In fact ill go as far as saying him in that centre midfield that year was key to why we didn't go up as well the lazy ass loan signings and of course dave jones

Was a tank in midfield when he first joined.

Stuart Holden is a fantastic midfielder and was a talent before he got injured.

I really don't see why people joke about him, always thought he was a brilliant player. I would take him back in fairness.

If he can perform like he did on times for us he could make a big difference in their relegation battle.

On his day a real handful but on other days absolutely dire.

Far too much of a gentleman on the pitch for my liking.
