Wales players back Chris Coleman!

Wales players back Chris Coleman to lead Euro qualifying campaign.

WALES World Cup stars are adamant Chris Coleman must take charge of the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

Welsh boss Coleman threw a huge question mark over his future by hinting he may not be around any more once the last four Group A matches have been completed this autumn. Coleman revealed he has already had job offers from abroad and candidly admitted he misses the day to day involvement of club football. When the appropriate time comes, Coleman says he will sit down with the FA of Wales powers-that-be “to hear what they have to say and tell them what my own plans are.”

But Welsh skipper Ashley Williams and defensive colleague Chris Gunter believe Coleman has started something with Wales and must be handed the opportunity to carry it through.
The dream of reaching Brazil 2014 ended when Wales lost 2-1 against Croatia in Swansea and Coleman has come in for some fierce flak from Welsh fans during his tenure in charge.

But Williams said: “Chris Coleman has done a great job when you consider the difficult circumstances when he came in.
Over our last few matches it’s clear things are getting back to where they were under Gary Speed. That’s really pleasing.
It would be stupid to change the manager and I can’t believe anybody is even talking about it. Yes, there has been criticism of him, but not from anyone who matters. People have just been talking for talking’s sake.
Nobody in our dressing room is concerned about it and the players are right behind Chris Coleman.”

Croatian manager Igor Stimac conceded his team had been ‘lucky’ to win at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium.

But Williams continued: “That’s no consolation, although we did play well. We know we are making progress, trying to get back to were we were and we are achieving that.”
Full-back Gunter also threw his support behind Coleman, saying: “For sure he is the man to take us forward.

“The circumstances in which he took over the job were almost impossible in a way. “We’ve seen over our last few games the atmosphere around the place has been as good as it can be. It’s probably as good as it’s been since I have been involved with Wales and if you speak to any of the players they will say exactly the same thing.
“Any talk of changing manager would be ridiculous in my opinion. The defeat against Croatia was harsh on us and extremely disappointing. But we played a top class team and showed we can match them. Wales have a really good squad. We may have had some disappointing results, but within that there have been some really good performances. We’ll just get our heads down and keep pressing ahead.”

Coleman’s Welsh side have a friendly against the Republic of Ireland to be played at Cardiff City Stadium in August.
Then come the last four World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia (home and away), Serbia (home) and Belgium (away).
Coleman has committed to be in charge of Wales through to the end of this campaign, but raised a doubt about his own future immediately after the defeat against Croatia.

“We have a group of exciting players, but at the moment I can’t really look beyond the last four matches of this group,” said Coleman. The World Cup has gone for us, but we have to fight to finish third in our group, win our own mini-league as such to put us in a better group of seeds for Euro 2016.”

Asked whether he would be in charge of that Euro campaign, Coleman said: “I’ve no idea.

“My next job, when I do eventually leave the Wales post, won’t be in the British Isles. I do like coaching abroad and I’ve had a couple of opportunities recently, which I rejected. I didn’t jump ship, because it’s my country. But I do struggle to come to terms with the fact that I won’t be seeing these players again, don’t have another match, for four months. Yes, I find that hard, if I’m honest. I’m sure when the time is right I will sit down with the powers that be and hear what their thoughts are, tell them what my plans are, and we’ll take things from there.”

The only reason why Ashley Williams is backing Chris Coleman is a jack and because he made him captain.

Improved won't last long if Coleman makes errors like he did.

People are pleased we played well against Croatia but are creaming theirselfs over beating Scotland twice.. We should have been winning them games anyway and more comfortable.

Scotland are awful and we won the home game thanks to Bale

Away game because we were a player up.

We were a player up due to the fact we passed the ball with fluidity. We lost 3-1 there under Speed not too long ago.

Your first sentence is ridiculous. That's like saying we only lost to Bosnia because of Dzeko. Cardiff only beat Swansea because of Bellamy etc etc

Bale carried us through the game at home and he was creating everything all by himself.

We lost because the players were not as good as they are now, fact.

yup we passed the ball a lot, were going no where with it and scotland where winning.

Not really at the CCS we should have been able to beat Scotland if Bale hadn't played, we obviously wouldnt have without him which is worrying.

If anyone really can't see the game by game improvement in this Wales side under Coleman they really are watching the wrong sport.

You do realise we had more chances than Scotland as well as more possession prior to the red card don't you? The way the scots couldn't handle our slick passing was always going to result in a red card, I'm surprised Hanley didnt see red too. How you see that as a negative is beyond me.

Why is that worrying? We have a thread bare team with championship and lower end Prem players in it. Bale was the difference as he's world class. I'm not really understanding your point. We were losing 1-0 when bale left the field in hampden and we continued to dominate and won the game 2-1.

Scotland are ranked above us, all this "should beat them" is nonsense and arrogance.

For all the possession and all the tippy tappy nonsnese against scotland could you see us scoring 11 v 11?
I honestly couldnt.

Against Croatia I as impressed first half until Coleman messed it up ith idiotic subs.

Yes tippy tappy nonsense.

I was stood in a giant snow globe watching this game and thinking no way will we score or create a chance unless Bale does something. Pass move, pass move, pass move, all fine if you have someone to finish it off or a focal point uptop. We had neither and never looked like scoring? agreed? disagree?

I must have imagined those chances then.

Lets just lump it in hope next time.

Well they are not (yet) going to say they want him out.
Whatever brains Coleman has are in his dick.
Smashed his car (and his legs) in a late night car smash.
Name me another manager who has missed a scheduled press conference because he was pissed.
But for the Gary Speed tragedy would he have got another job in football management?
I hope Wales can gain some consistency but they need a manager who is extremely tactically aware and doesn't rely on one player to get him out of gaol

You missed Ramseys chance in the first minute then? Completely ignoring our passing and posession game kept any chances conceded away until the 25th minute. Bellamy and bale both denied before they scored from a set piece. Did you watch the game?

You do also know it was a slick interchange down the right that won us a penalty against Croatia right? Not to mention the passing moves which gave bale his two chances and Williams his?

Wasn't a question was it? The only one I see is would Coleman have got another job if it wasn't for the Welsh position. So ridiculous I thought it was rhetoric sorry.

Yes going by his good managerial track record he would have got another job. dear me

RE PAXMAN

Yes I did miss the first 2 mins because of a taxi driver.
Yes I was at the game thanks and I was very unimpressed and until the penalty we never looked like scoring imo despite huge possession and good passing i never felt like we would get a goal until the sending off and even then not until after the pen....even after that we let scotland play so football which was odd as 11 v 11 we kept the ball well.

As for croatia ive already said we looked good until coleman cocked it up and gave the game to croatia.

Re: Wales players back Chris Coleman!

Thu Mar 28, 2013 12:36 am

Well there we go then, the fact we had more possession and more chances means our style worked whether you thought we would score or not.

As for Coleman cocking up the Croatia game? I think that's an amazing statement. Croatia had a better team an us, they are 9th in the world. Kanu looked knackered and had to be brought off before they exploited it. He brought on a left sided full back winger to help out the obviously targeted Gunter and certainly shored up that side. Their hold on the game since half time didnt subside and a mixture of a goal keeping error and a powerful long range strike swung the game.

To look for blame when we have a thread bare squad is like Barnet looking for blame they lost 2-1 to arsenal.

Re: Wales players back Chris Coleman!

Thu Mar 28, 2013 11:01 am

If people aren't happy with how were playing, and the results were getting under Coleman at the moment then you clearly don't have any sort of understanding of where we are compared to other nations in size and structure. The fact people still wont back him because of where he's from is embarrassing and pathetic, and showing f**k all support to the country. You preach about how we apparently don't support Wales, but a lot of you aren't showing any support to Wales. We're playing as well as we were under the end of Gary Speed's reign, and I didn't see anybody moaning then.
