A forum for all things Cardiff City

It's safe to say he featured alot more than anyone imagined last season.
With the inability to bring in a much needed support striker for the lonesome Kenny Miller,Joe found himself used a lot more than even he thought possible. He proved himself a worthy addition to any squad at this level with a series of important Goals, including a well taken finish at Wembely against Liverpool in the carling cup final.
When Cardiff Added Rudy Gestede,Ettien Velikonja,Craig Bellamy,Tommy Smith, Heidur Helguson, Nicky Maynard and Fraizer Cambell, you would've forgiven him for becoming a bit disalusioned at the club, But Joe has kept his head down and worked hard.
With the above mentioned names his chances have been severly limited even with a host of injury and fitness issues to some of the players, limited to mainly Developement squad games this season and a regular spot on the bench Joes goal ratio has suffered as would've his professional development. But at what cost? Surely with Ettien Banging in DVP goals and Frazier, Craig, Rudy and Heidur all battling for the first team spaces, I was suprised to hear Malky Rebuff any Appoaches for a short term loan for the player. Especially if the club asking could guarantee Game time for the player.
Are we causing damage to a prosperous talent by being reluctant to let him spread his wings a bit?

Good post mate, As you say we are more than well covered up top so in my opinion would have great to get him game time at league level for a short period as it all adds up for experience .

A good post but I think Malky is spot on keeping Joe. Even is Joe doesn't start, he is very useful to have on the bench. If we get promoted and strengthen the squad further, I'm sure Joe would then be allowed to join another club on loan. But right now, we need him, why weaken our squad now?

Joe Mason has been unlucky by the quality we brought in.
Mason can fit in the Prem in my opinion.

You say that, but he can't force his way into a team in the championship...

True, but the Prem seems a league he could be okay in.

The Championship is a lot more physical than the Premiership, so he may be better suited to the Premiership.

if Mason can fit in to a premiership team, why can't he fit into a team that is in the championship?
I've never heard of a player who can do it in the prem and not the championship.
