Are points deductions the right punishment ?

Tue Mar 26, 2013 1:10 pm

With Coventry city now facing a points deduction for going into administration , is a points deduction the right punishment for a club which is genuinely struggling , one that hasn't paid out millions for players or paid huge wages , and one that has allways to the eye tried to keep within the rules and scrape by ?
If this is handed down it will kill there play off hopes and therefor the best chance of them paying there debts off !
Without the play off money they have pretty much no chance of getting out/ staying out of administration ( whichever way it is with the court case ) according to there fans , another deduction would be looming next season which will kill off a famous club and they will drop !
Surely there's a better way to keep a club like this going without sentencing them to certain death ?
If they had spent millions on a gamble and it didnt work then I'd say fair enough they fucked up they should live with the consequences , but they are just having a rough time and need help not the football league making it worse
They've allready lost there stadium , stock been reposesed now there taking there points and players will be next
Feel sorry for them there a good club and founder members of the premier league they should be helped not systematically ripped apart :(

They knew the penalties for financial mis-management. No sympathy at all.

I think it may not have been an immediate death but I believe we were shagged before Tan stepped in.

How can you possibly say that?????

My reading of the reality from the statement that was made after the initial 'return to blue' phase that there was no more money going to be put in by VT - that would have meant we'd have have had High Court Writs in weeks against us and no way of paying them.

VT said then, and has since (as any sensible businessman would say) that he would look to keep the club viable, but the reality is that no one would have come in (as VT's interest was the only one in 2010 when we had the last High Court Writs against us) and he would have been faced with :

1. wasting about a million pounds more each month with no realistic return
2. Cut his losses and move on

I know which i'd do of those two scenarios if I'd been in his shoes.

And its now turned into REBRAND THREAD #2012812310.

To answer your question, yes its a good enough punishment. At the end of the day its financial mismangement and the reap what they sow unfortunatly.
