Carl Curtis: Bluebirds fans must celebrate and savour the good times

Last week, against Sheffield Wednesday, we needed a win to take a bit of pressure off the team, the manager and the fans. Thankfully, the boys dug in and got a well-deserved three points. But not only did Dave Jones’ struggling side fail on Saturday, so did our closest rivals... who could have predicted the results of last weekend?

This season, we have had slices of luck that have helped us at key times during the campaign, when we have dropped points, the chasing pack have very rarely made the most of the opportunity. Even when we were on a recent mini-wobble, we managed to open the gap up to nine points over third-placed Watford.

I think even the most pessimistic Bluebird believes that City will get promoted now.

It is important we enjoy the moments on the pitch for these are the good times, for years we have dreamt of being in a position like we are today and we should celebrate and savour every minute of a remarkable season.

As far as I am concerned I would love to see nothing more than the CCS full to the rafters for the remaining home games of the season. There is plenty to celebrate and we should be filling every seat to support the manager and his team for the efforts they have shown.

Our away attendances are picking up, next week against Peterborough there will a good turn-out from the Bluebirds because the club has subsidised the travel for 1,000 fans at a cost of just £8 per fan for a seat on a coach to London Road.

It is an excellent and welcomed gesture from the club to maximise numbers in the away end but I would have suggested offering discount on the match ticket as opposed to discount for those just travelling on coaches, that way every supporter could have benefited from such a gesture not just those of us who travel by coach.

I don’t wish to sound ungrateful because I certainly am not, but reading messages on social media and the message board, I understand some of the frustration that some of the fans are feeling. Those who travel by car and train regularly feel left out despite being at away games week in, week out.

It seems that many fans believe Watford away to be the day that we get promoted, that is very much the consensus on the popular message boards but I feel we will be promoted when we are playing at home after the Watford game. We have already sold the 2,200 allocation we were given for the televised early evening match at Vicarage Road.

If we were to win promotion at Watford on April 6th, maybe it would go some way to justifying Malky Mackay’s decision to leave the Hornets for the Bluebirds, but in fairness they do seem to be just fine under Gianfranco Zola and they have a very good opportunity themselves of securing automatic promotion.

It is going to be an interesting couple of weeks in the lives of all Bluebirds and my message would be, hold on to your hats this ride is about to get a whole lot faster!

Carl, I think its very unlikely we'll go up at Watford, we'd basically need to win all our next 3 games and have results elsewhere go our way too.

On the main subject I wholeheartedly agree with you, these days don't come along often so its time to grasp what we are on the verge of doing and enjoy pushing the boys over the line.

We may never have a Championship promotion/winning season again.

Sheffield was brilliant, loyal fans up there, given the massive rugby match on in Cardiff which accounted for more than 1/3 of our normal travellers, and the sheer relief at our win and jubilation when it came through what was happening elsewhere made it a top top day. Let's hope we've got a few more like it to come in the next few weeks.

Great write up Carl.....but I have thought the same for a few seasons now, especially when looking around Wembley in cup finals, this is wildest dream stuff for sure. :malky: :malky:

Very true, Carlos but I think we've made our own luck this season too ;)

Rather than moan and groan like DJ did, Malky has come out after every down and said "We will put t right next game" (and we invariably have) :)

As golf legend Lee Trevino once said: "The harder I practice, the lucker I get" :)

A very apt saying for Malky's team this year :notworthy: :notworthy: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
