A distinct lack of Coleman out threads tonight

Fri Mar 22, 2013 10:58 pm

As I've been saying all along, give the guy a chance to get the team over the loss of Speed and start playing how he wants them to.

We were outstanding tonight imo and totally outplayed the Sweaties on their own patch.

Definite signs of improvement in the last 4 games and long may it continue.

Distinct lack of Coleman praise threads either NJ. Says it all really.

After 8 games he continues to have exactly the same record as Speed... And Speed only managed Wales for 10 in total in much less difficult circumstances too I might add.

Still has a lot to prove for me.

Improvements yes and more confidence but dont take away that Bale has saved his ass the last couple of games bar tonight. Only bad decisions tonight was the lack of a frontman and picking Ricketts over Collins. But otherwise excellent result for him.

I'm glad he finally played Williams though to give him that important cap to stop england from trying to swipe him

Love it when people say that

A player the manager picks to score goals, does exactly that and it's classed as saving his ass

Thank God for Ronaldo saving Mourinhos ass every week and Rooney saving Alex Fergusons ass.

Oh come on in the scotland game if it wasnt for that world class goal we wouldn't be discussing the fact that we have been improving. Those last few games we were shit except for Bale, you can't credit Coleman for that.

I have nothing against Coleman dont think he's that good and I'm glad we are starting to play well but dont deny that Bale saved us compared to the rest of the team.

What he is getting at is Wales have been shite in games and it has tooken a piece of magic from Bale to win a game or even score a goal.

But thats what hes there for.

That's like when people say "if beckham couldn't pass he'd be crap"

He scored a world class goal because he's a world class player, hence why Coleman picked him and hence why we won.

How many times have we played crap this season and won by the odd goal by whittingham or someone like that? Does that mean whoever scores has saved our ass and we shouldn't be top?

Players are picked to score and to win. If that goes to plan it doesn't mean it's lucky, it's what was supposed to happen.

We currently lie in third, clear by 2 points the only 2 teams ahead of us are Croatia and Belgium and have won 3 out of our last 4 games. Stop moaning and looking for excuses would be my advice, Coleman and the boys are doing a great job.

Majority of fans weren't happy with his appointment, me being one, I'm still not happy as I felt we lacked ambition, under Speedo I'd have accepted 3rd, if we can finish 3rd it gives us a good seed for the Euro 2016 qualifiers, it's time to build. Coleman has started just like Speed, I'm glad moments are going right for him, I don't rate him as a manager but reading the FAW booklets they give out, I read his articles and you can see he wants to succeed. For the past two games we've played some really nice football

He hasn't STARTED just like Speed - he has matched the first 80% of Speeds reign.

Speed was manager for 10 games - and after 8 games, Coleman has exactly the same record after taking over in far more difficult circumstances.

No I get what your on about but at the end of the day its the managers fault if we have been playing that badly.

We absolutely bossed the Scots and we deserved to win. I didn't rate Coleman but everyone's switched on since that thrashing by Serbia.

Onwards and upwards!

Bit of a crazy reply. What gave you the impression I was in any way not chilled.

I am just making the point that people gush over Speed and slate Coleman but are pretty oblivious to the fact they have done exactly the same.

A win against the scots at Hampden in any era is a half decent result.
Wales played very well and coming back to win after Bale had been taken off must be a massive boost to the lads
If they play with the same commitment and pride on tuesday they wont disgrace themselves against the Croats

Performances are never going to be coherent under a new manager, we weren't under Speed. We lost 4 out of our first 5 games and were awful, got thrashed to Scotland and Ireland along the way.

Performance wise, Cardiff were far better under Jones yet which manager would you prefer? Malky or Jones?

A good performance against a very poor Scottish team who played like San Marino at times.

I don't 'gush' over Speedo, before Speedo died we were in good form and in high hopes, we were playing good football etc and how can you say Coleman didn't start off like Speed? Bad results then that one moment, he regains a bit of form.

You said he HAS started (present tense) like Speed.

I was making the point that it will be his 9th game in charge in a few days time. Speed managed us for 10 games in total.

To say he has started like Speed is inaccurate, he has pretty much emulated Speeds WHOLE Welsh managerial career in far more difficult circumstances.

Let's not get too excited. We have beaten the one team in the group twice who are worse than us. Let's see what happens against Croatia on Tuesday.

Speed led us to a 3-1 defeat in Scotland not so long ago - they are ranked higher than us. As we're Austria who we also beat.

Wasn't impressed when Coleman took over but tonight for the first 25 mins we was outstanding. But we tried to walk the ball in the net. But we could not keep it up we needed to keep to keep high intensity but did not.
In the end we dug deep and we came away with a deserved win. So we do have to give Coleman a bit more time and thank our lucky stars we aint got Gordon Strachan

Not disagreeing it wasn't a good result but let's be honest Scotland are in a bad place at the moment and on the way down the rankings.
