West Ham Pay 2million A Year Rent

Fri Mar 22, 2013 7:25 pm

when they move to the Olympic stadium. Seems a lot to pay to me just wondering do we pay any rent for our stadium to anyone or do we now own it outright and all profits go to the club?

£2 million per year on something that cost £650m is a pretty good deal. It's like paying £166 per month on a house that cost £650k to build.

But they will never own it, and I don't care if the stadium cost a billion pound to build 2 million a year rent isn't cheap isit.

£2 million is peanuts when you're in the prem and getting 60,000 crowds but if they were to get relegated which West ham do as they're a yo yo club then it could go tits up.

Spot on.

Been to West Hams original ground and I wouldn't be exicted by the move to be honest.

Same here. Can't see them selling out the 60,000 stadium. Think they are getting to ambitious and thinking they'll be like Arsenal when they moved to their new 60,000 seater staduim. Can see West Ham falling flat on their faces on this project.

Could see them getting 40,000-45,000 at a push in a stadium.

I think they will get 85-90% of the stadium full with premiership football. Can anyone name a new stadium that doesnt do well these days in the top league?

£2 million a year is nothing, it worked out at around £100k a Premier League game and with them guarenteed £60 million from TV rights next season it's nothing in the Premier League. I think they'll be able to sell the stadium out, and it'll be a fraction of the gate receipts considering they can 50,000+ crowds.

They've got a 99 year lease on the thing, so it's not like they'll only be there short term and Arsenal have racked up hundreds of millions worth of debt building the Emirates so it's a bargain for West Ham really.

West ham have only sold out 6 times this season. Upton park holds 35k so why do people think new fans are gonna turn up?

You forget it will cost them another small fortune for stewards and policing per ratio with the Stadiums size and capacity these costs don't come from charitable donations and will no doubt cost a pretty penny :o .

Exactly I was thinking this? How are west ham all of a sudden as big as Chelsea and arsenal, where are all these extra 15-20 thousand fans coming from? I can't see them hardly ever filling that stadium to be honest and will be a big soulless stadium full of empty seats, and all for 2million a year hmm
