Our forgotten songs

Thu Mar 21, 2013 9:51 pm

Over the years we've had a lot of funny, passionate and clever songs down the city, but in the past few seasons it seems like we only have a couple that we regurgitate.

What's your favourite songs that seem to have been forgotten about?

Even getting the canton stand to do the bounce in unison or something as simple as let's all have a disco could get the fans going a bit. It used to be great watching the grange end going mental.

Ideas guys? Be great to see the fans at home enjoying ourselves again

That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about mate.

The Peter Thorne 'posh spice is a slapper' song was original and genius. We need some sharp people to get some new songs of that calibre going

She has been since she's born and when she's shagging Beckham she thinks of Peter Thorne !

and

Posh Spice is a slapper she wears a wonderbra and when she's shagging Beckham she thinks of Kavanagh !

Haha quality songs, your right what your saying mate not enough imagination these days, it don't make sense, there used to be a good group of lads in the Grange end , Block A Grandstand and The Bob Bank, maybe since the move to CCS everyones gone their seperate ways in the stadium.

I don't doubt that mate. Always a decent showing at away games. I was mostly thinking about home games. Just think we are struggling to make an atmosphere at home. People look at you strange if you try starting a singin the Ninian stand. Frustrating

Used to love under a Grange End Star. Also used to love the all time classic, to the tune of The Liver Birds:
If your standing on the corner,
With a Swansea scarf round your neck,
Cardiff boys will come and get you,
And we'll break your f*cking neck,
LA la la la etc etc

Then the hot dog stand between the Bob and Grange gets turned over (again) and the gift of house bricks are bestowed to Swansea coaches.

Completely agree that its better to have original songs rather than same tunes as the rest. As I type this on my slate I am also watching the BBC news talking about the age of the universe and Big Bang. I would like to give Fiona Bruce a Big Bang of an entirely different sort. Rrrrrrrrrrr!

Exactly mate, it's a shame there's usually only a couple of songs repeated every now and then. Used to have such a great variety

Agree with you there mate as I sit in the Ninian aswell. I really don't know many ways we can get the atmosphere going. :(

On the money. All seater season ticket stadiums deffo contribute to this. Awaydays are now the only remnant for fans to do this.

Re: Our forgotten songs

Thu Mar 21, 2013 10:53 pm

banter in football songs has gone really, it's all about copying someone else.

so f**k it, copy someone else but put a local twist on it, purely to take the piss!!

That song "We won it three times....." that man utd and liverpool sung over the years?

we could tear that apart with our own version.

"We've won it twenty two times, We've won it twenty two tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimes, The Welsh Cup, we've won it twenty two times!"

Re: Our forgotten songs

Thu Mar 21, 2013 11:00 pm

Mindless der-der-der- clap clap etc. we sued to have some brilliant songs (and chants) - 'Toshack's wife is a f*cking lesbian' is probably my favourite chant of all time. Alot of the songs also had the word blue in them but that's dead in the water. The best thing to do would be to switch the family stand with the grange end to create a bit more atmosphere and make it a more formidable place for away teams to come.

And we need some sharp minds and there are loads about, the wit and humour of south Wales is unique, often ripe and usually hilarious. It just needs the right conditions and mix of people for it to come out

Ali to play to the full version of Hey Jude before kick off would be great. Fans need to learn the lyrics of Men Of Harlech....
I'll be there should be chanted more often...Let's bring unique songs to the CCS. :ayatollah:

Reading some of the moronic posts and songs on here it's just as well they are forgotten! Songs about Toshack, Posh Spice, David Beckham FFS! It's embarrassing! Is this what our support has degenerated to?
Try singing or chanting something that actually supports the team. I notice there are not too many of those in the thread. Just songs about abusing other people with no relevant connection to the club.

"Gran Dio!...morir sì giovine" from La Traviatta that was always sung in the 60's.

We were very cultured then.

I go to the games to primarily support the team but also like to enjoy myself and have fun. To be honest I'm not sure if you'd know what FUN or ENJOYMENT is

I think the lack of banter with away fans has definitely been a massive factor in the lack of atmosphere at the ccs

"is this what our support has degenerated to" - how long have you been watching Cardiff.

No your quite right, lets all join in with a chorus of:

Play up Cardiff
Play up Cardiff

FFS

Althouh I will concede that there's no point in singin about posh spice or beckham, what have they ot to do with us?

There's not enouh abuse in football anymore imo

The posh spice songs were about Peter Thorne and Kavanagh. Just people having a laugh down the football.

Agree with the abuse part though mate, I used to love the intimidation factor we had.
