1988! Your first game?

Let me bring you up to date.

Before you regard me as a Johnny Come Lately Glory Hunter (your words not mine). A couple of facts for you.
In 1988 I was running the Roberts and Cooper Offie in Paget Street Grangetown. Anyone remember that? and the late night banging on your doors trying to get the DVD rentals back LOL I met a lot of die hard city fans who got me hooked on the team and the pies!

I had just finished a 22 year stint in the army. I was and will always remain a Bluebird.I was when business allowed a Ninian Park stalwart. I was the bloke whos sister did the ballet display in the canton stand during half time the City vs Fulham home match with Bobby Moore and Rodney Marsh playing. George Best did not show!

I do not support the red rebrand but I do enjoy our team enjoying success and financial investment. The fans that stuck with the team home and away deserve their moment in the sunlight. If you dont like it tough!

If you dont like it tough.

He's probably too embarrassed to reply! but he is typical of people who think just because we don't condemn tan outright, we are not proper supporters! Despite being fans for countless years.

I find it laughable all the nonsense about 'your not as good as fan unless your like me'
I couldn't give a flying fck if someone has been longer than me, or likes red or blue, or daffodils, or dragons or standing or sitting or ccs or Ninian.

Why you have chosen to start a new thread calling me out instead of replying to my post in the other thread is strange to say the least. Anyway, however long you have supported us, you have no right to tell those who are hurting from what VT is doing to our club to push off to the welsh league.

You say the fans who have stuck with us for all these years deserve to their success and deserve to enjoy their moment in the sunlight. But unfortunately, I am one of many fans who has not enjoyed this season as much as I should because of what VT has done to us. If you don't like that and you don't like the fact that I am one of several fans who is going to speak out about caring more about the identity of my football club over any success we might achieve, then tough!

It will feel good if we win the title and lift the trophy, but to me, the elation I should be experiencing will be soured by the fact we will be lifting the trophy wearing red shirts and with red ribbons on the trophy. I will never give up supporting my local club, but to me it just isn't the same and it will never be the same until we get our colours, badge and identity back.

I am not going to waste hours getting into a debate with you as this is obviously what you are looking for by setting up a seperate thread directed to me. If it makes you feel better, I apologise for calling you a johnny come lately fan and whether you agree or disagree with me, I hope you can at least understand my feelings and emotions.

As you can see I am not an experienced poster and thought creating the thread was the right thing to do. It was not meant as any type of insult so i apologise for getting it wrong.

Of course I do respect your views and your right to express them so again sorry if it came across in a negative way.

We both have our opinions and this forum is a great way of helping to get things off our chests and if we all felt the same way it would be a very boring read.

I too hope that we play again in Blue.

Fair enough mate. I think every City fan would prefer us in blue but some have accepted the change better than others. I'm the type of fan who would be quite happy watching us away to Forest Green in blue and if I had a choice, I would rather go back to those days and struggle for 20 years than have to go through a lifetime of watching us in red, however successful we might be.

It's a connection thing for me, I grew up chanting blue army and Bluebirds falling in love with the blue of my local club. The rebrand is piece by piece removing parts about my local club I fell in love with and until these parts are put back, I will never have the same passion, joy or emotional connection watching my local club.

Obviously, I appreciate everyone has differing feelings and emotions, and like you say this forum is a great way to express our feelings and things off our chest.
