Question for the FC Bluebirds organisers / supporters

Wed Mar 20, 2013 11:03 pm

If Tan went back to playing in blue with a bluebird on the crest, and you had already started the new team, would you continue with the new club or fold it? If so , why...and if not, why not?

Not just the fans, but the founders of the new team! I appreciate they have become disillusioned with Tan and the rebrand, but if they are doing all of this in order to play in a certain colour and have their bluebird badge, if this is brought back by Tan (unlikely at present), I assume this defeats the object of the team? Therefore, those who are going down this route, in a form of protest, would assumably come back to CCFC, which would quash the new set up?

If the club is up and running it would continue.

To answer your question the club would continue to be run by the fans who would have a financial interest and a say on how the club is run so it is unlikely they will just walk away. The club is not a protest but a group of people tired of the rebrand and their opinions being ignored.Regardless of what happens at Cardiff City the club is a lifelong project and will continue. We are currently discussing our future with legal and financial advisers along with sponsors.

I personally think the idea would not work, there will be no support, and would the fans fund it? I very much doubt it, you would need sponsors and during these tough financial times, the answer would be no thanks, sponsors want to be associated with success, and hopefully with Cardiff in the P L that would be where they would want to invest their hard earned cash.

The fans who support the new team have to have more than the colour to go on. If that's the only reason for supporting then it won't last long. However, I think the new club is meant to be more about fan ownership and accountability and the fact that they play in blue is a secondary issue. I reckon the fans who want to be involved in the new club would stay.

The main thing stopping me getting involved with any new club would be the hope that Cardiff City's traditions would one day be appreciated and restored by future owners.

It strikes me that, if the blue and badge were taken out of the equasion then people couls "come back" to watching Cardiff City again, and therefore the new team set up would be nothing more than a hobby for those wanting to start a new football team! It could almost be percieved that the 'rebrand' is an excuse to follow a life long dream of running your own football club!

I'm not suggesting it is, but just playing devils advocate here!

I think that the new team should stay. What happens if a new owner comes in and decides to rebrand us? There is already a functioning club others can go and support to show their disgust. People may think Tan is the only one who would ever rebrand us but we'll be seen as easy targets now so if Tan does put us up for sale I can truly see some of the vultures of the business world trying to buy us knowing they could do pretty much what they wanted without a major fight back. The precedent has been set.
