Gus poyet to reading

Wed Mar 20, 2013 3:14 pm

Gus poyet is the overwhelming favourite to be the new reading manager , according to reports he has been given permission to speak to them today !

To me that's a backwards step for him .
Reading are going down this year and will lose a few players whilst also having a unpredictable owner who sacked McDermott for no reason at a stupid time of the season
Brighton are in the playoff places , have a new stadium , very rich owners , he's seen as a god down there allready ( king gus  ) and he's building a very impressive passing team in his own mould .

Should he stay or go ?
I think he's better off in Brighton and expect them to earn promotion in the next year or so , once achieved he will be one of the most sought after managers in the game .

Their owner is very ambitious and Poyet is one of those managers who has a project and wants to finish it. So if he leaves Brighton, he leaves them in a very good state

Brighton have given Gus Poyet permission to speak to Reading over their managerial vacancy, Sky sources understand.

The Premier League's joint-bottom side are seeking a replacement for Brian McDermott, who was sacked earlier this month after a run of four straight defeats.

Neither club has commented on the speculation but Poyet has been backed into odds of 1-10 with several bookmakers.

The former Uruguay international took the Brighton reins in November 2009 and in his first full season in charge led the club to promotion as League One champions.

He is contracted to the south-coast club - currently outside the play-off places only on goal difference - until 2016.

Definetly agree it will be a backwards step for him
Poyets got Brighton playing some very nice football and with a bit of money at the end of the season, i think theyll get promoted.Hes definetly one of the best young managers out there

Gus Poyet is poised to replace Brian McDermott as the new Reading boss.

The Premier League side have received permission to speak to the Brighton manager and are understood to be keen to agree a deal as quickly as possible.

Brighton took charge of the Seagulls in November 2009 and led them to promotion from League One in his first full season.

His side are presently just outside the Championship play-off places on goal difference and Royals owner Anton Zingarevich is impressed both with the job that Poyet has done and the style of football his team plays.

Former Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio had been in the running but it is understood several players at the club made clear their unwillingness to work with the volatile Italian.

We have to give permission to any club that want to speak with Gus as it's in his contract and just like Gus has made it clear that if any club that comes in for any of our players then he'll allow them to speck to the club like Bennett and croft with Norwich and Nooney with you.

Will Gus leave us? I don't think he will to be honest. We could be swapping places next season and if we don't will Gus really want to mange another team in the same division. Will Reading go back straight back up next season? Look at Wolves, Bolton and Blackburn, I thought one of them would win promotion.

We have a 31,000 seater stadium built now and state of the art £25 million acadarmy has now stated to be built which will be completed by August and Gus helped design it. He's contracted till 2016 and has full controll of the club from the football side and doesn't have no interference from our chairman who backs him %100.

Gus has stated time and time again that it would take a big club ( top 7 ) to turn his mind. The bookies think it's a done deal as we've given permission but we'd give permission to you or Crawley town if they came calling.

Gus turned down Wolves last season and they are bigger than Reading.

Good post
Id be quite shocked if he left you aswell,Brighton are a couple of players short of a having a very good side and it seems quite crazy for poyet to leave for a smaller club.

that would be a bad move i reckon. could even swop places come end of season. He should finish the job at bha, if they havent made it up in a few years then maybe as i reckon he will be a top manager one day. Surely he would be a contender at Chelsea maybe?

He'd be crazy to leave Brighton. I would expect them to push for promotion next season.

Good ground, good fans and a chairman who really cares about the club.

Maybe just trying to negotiate a pay increase for next season.
