If we go up?

Wed Mar 20, 2013 9:22 am

Do you think we will go straight back down?

Tan said we would have in the region of 20-25mil to spend on players!

Is that enough?
I've heard reports saying that we would need to be spending at least 50mil just to fight to stay up.

Are we looking at a relegation battle for next season.

Sorry to say but I think we will. I don't think Malky is experienced enough to keep us up. A very good manager but I can see us being like Reading were this year. Playing satisfactory football but just losing games we should be drawing and drawing games we should be winning.

Depends who are promoted with us? 2 poor sides possibly and one already poor premiership side, should give us a fighting chance.?

We won't really know...If we bring in good players if we go up we could finish mid table. Look at Norwich and Swansea...We can do the same as long as Tan has money available and Malky be's sensible :malky:

I think we will but I can see us going right down to the wire. It depends what sort of players Malky brings in, will he go for Premiership experience or go for a foreign model where he buys loads of cheap European players and hope for the best?

I personally think we will stay up.

We got a side that will fight to the end,A team that plays for each other, with a few more RIGHT players coming in, then I think we could pull off a stoke and stay there for years.

No point going into a new season thinking we're going straight back down. So negative.

The amount of wedge Ting Tan is going to get for promotion plus the TV deals next year, its not enough. The spending next year is going to be crazy in my opinion. Financial limits on all but you'll see the lower teams spending more.

Hes going to be racking it in and limiting all spending on players. Setting out a 20-25 million 'war chest'. I bet we get hardly anything. We will all go nuts. I can feel it in my bones.

I don't think we will, can you imagine playing the type of football that we are seeing now but against prem opposition

most likely yes, unless we spend circa 50 million :ayatollah: :old: :ayatollah:

Re: If we go up?

Spend £50 million and we WILL go down.

We need to spend on a few quality experienced premier league players to add to the current squad and build from that.

Buying 11 new players does not work, look at QPR.

We need to follow Norwich who kept the core of the squad together.

Malky is sensible, he knows this and won't be spending big.

If we do get promotion, I would be fairly optimistic that we would hold our own, just as the Jacks have done. :ayatollah:

Premier league is poorer than it used to be. A few have gone up and done well, no reason why we can't IF we get up there. :ayatollah:

So now we get there its suddenly poorer?

Just like when we are top of the championship it's suddenly poorer.

Your world must be so depressing.

Where did I say that? Premier league is not as strong as it was say 6/7 years ago.. That's why teams have been able to make more or an impression.

We aren't even there yet. :laughing5:

No he was saying it was poor before we got there. Which to me is right, you would never have expected the Jacks and Norwich to do so well when they went up did you? Plus the fact that one club is running away with the title this season and the fact that no club has got passed the first round in the Champions League.

To me its still a very difficult league to survive in but its not as tough as it used to be

If we finished 17th or above in the premiership it would be huge. There have been clubs that have been yoyo clubs between championship and premiership before settling in the premiership e.g. West brom. I'd be happy to go straight back down if we were in a good position to go straight back up. If we spend recklessly and buy old players on huge contracts then we could be in trouble if we went down but I think Malky will buy youngsters and put us in a good position to be promoted again. I'm not sure Tan will be happy though and he could end up sacking Malky and being convinced that bringing in someone like Shearer and spending £30m in January is a good idea.
