ANYONE REMEMBER PETERBOROUGH AWAY

Tue Mar 19, 2013 1:39 pm

Must have been in the late seventies, we actually filled fifty two seater coach from Cwmaman, basically a small village with one pub and a famous pop group, a transit van full had also gone up really early hours and when we were approaching Peterborough, the first signs saying city center had been spray painted with the word Cardiff, and every sign from there on in said Cardiff City center.

The away end was packed and I think it was Carl R--d who got up on the pitch and led the charge across the pitch joined by a couple of thousand other Cardiff fans and poured into the home end.

Can't remember the score, the year or what kit we had, but remember the day out. :old:

I was at an FA Cup tie there in the 80s, not sure if its the same game, but at half time, Cardiff fans left the away end behind the goal and run around the ground and ran through the home end to our left, fighting started in the terrace which spilled onto the pitch. 8-) 8-)

The one i remember gwyn, (probably the same one) is where a load of millwall turned up to welcome us, they were quickly taking a backward step when they saw how many city fans were there.

It was the 75/76 promotion season and the score was 0-0, think the game was a week or two after we had beaten Palace at Selhurst Park. May have been an Easter weekend.

If my memory serves me right didn't Peterborough fans throw stones over the roof at us from behind goal from outside the stadium, some of the stones landed on the pitch, near our keeper Ron Healy some fans for health and safety reasons went onto the pitch to assist in clearing the stones so players would not be injured by them, not a steward in sight to do the job :D :D :D so we could return the stones to their rightful owners :D :D :D :D :D

I remember the FA cup game in 1987.

I was living in Nottingham at the time and went by car - I was steaming as were most city fans that day.

A fair few city there, alot hanging from the fences. As with the earlier post, city fans ran out of the away end, along the side of the ground and into the Peterborough side.

A few punches thrown, stones thrown and eventually a quick exit back, with plod and batons at the ready.

We lost 2-1 if I remember. Lots of city chants at that game of 'Michael Ryan' who had just carried out random shootings at Hungerford - don't ask me why they were singing it- I just remember it.

Went to that game in the back of a transit van driven by Mallo, journey from hell!!

Remember his mate, Gizmo i think, being bitten by a police dog on the pitch.

Can remember City supporters in the stand to our left charging into the other home fans and onto the pitch. Soon to be joined by horses and dogs.
Nice local trip for me. Shame we normally play shit against The Posh.

Also Peterborough away when the game got called off just as the coach was pulling into their car park at about mid-day.

Pitch was frozen and Barry Fry let a few city fans onto the pitch to prove he couldn't get his keys into the pitch, cos of the frost. All he was worrying about was the extra pies they had ordered that would have to be thrown away!

Everyone piled into the Cherry Tree pub by the ground.

We ended up getting on someones coach and going to Kettering to watch them v Donny (who were in conference at the time)- plod wouldn't let us in, so we went to the pub and had a great afternoon swapping stories with some donny boys who hadn't gone to the game and stayed in the pub. They had a small mob of say 10-15 boys and then half a coach load of city fans walk in! Faces were a picture.
