Very good defender. I hope we sign him up as he'll add more strength to our back line.

Brighton were after this guy last month -

Albion boss Gus Poyet has told The Argus his bid to sign Dutch prospect Virgil van Dijk "is over".

The Seagulls have had two bids knocked back for the rising Groningen star.

Poyet needs a centre-back to help cover the current absence of Gordon Greer and Lewis Dunk.

He will assess his options before tomorrow night's transfer deadline.

But he said: "At the moment there's nothing. It's going to be very difficult."

Making fun of our names, eh?

We had a television series on for years here. It was called 'Baantjer' and it was about an older detective called 'Jurriaan de Cock'. For us it wasn't that big a deal 'kok' is just our word for 'cook', but foreigners called us perverts because of this, haha. He even spelled his name in the books and the series, he would always introduce himself like this: 'Hello, I'm the Cock, with C-O-C-K, and this is my colleague Dick Vledder.'

Really. The main characters were called Jurriaan de Cock and Dick Vledder

At the same time, the surname 'dick' is very common around here. So there are loads of people whose name is 'Dick de Cock'...you might wonder why they never go abroad, hahaha.

But it doesn't make any difference here. Our names are terrible. They're either dirty words in other languages or they sound like vomiting noises.
