This problem was solved by our lads turning up at a Division 4 Rochdale v Workington game being played not far away.
The City fans, being as we were "away" supported the Workington team, who dually won the game. The Workington players, in appreciation of their unexpected & vociferous support, came over after the final whistle & applauded all the City fans who were there.
Can any one confirm this story? Were you one of the City lads at Rochdale that day??
Out of interest, the Bolton away fixture was later rescheduled for May 10 1977, our last away game of that season, which we lost 1-2 (Buchanan).
