HEIDAR HELGUSON

Sun Mar 17, 2013 10:18 am

oh my God, how good was he yesterday, a real war horse and chased all day (not the fastest mind, but non stop) he must be a nightmare to play against, he was just what we needed yesterday and old head to steady things and he done a great job. :malky: :malky: :malky:

We all have different views and opinions, but it's about what he does off the ball and the chasing down and donkey work, bet Malky gives him big praise for yesterday.

One thing he did made me laff, near the end when they were just about to sub him, he moved right over to the other side of the pitch, so when they put his number up, it would waste a good few extra seconds whilst he walked off, cracked me up, also he done it yesterday and Tuesday, when it looks like the ball is just about to go out for a goal kick and the defender is shielding it, somehow he manages to time it just right, get around the back of the defender and plays it off him to get a corner, it's those little things that change games, oh aye and the odd goal as well. :malky:

I thought he was outstanding!

No doubting he's a top professional and his experience is helping us,just as the things you ve noted, which I didn't myself, may be I'm a bit harsh, but I wish he'd chip in with a goal or two, rather than gaining praise for all the lumps and bumps he receives

Re: HEIDAR HELGUSON

Wasnt in the crowd, games are a hard slog from Kaiserslautern. But watched as always a stream of the game, and thought HH was very very good again. Does so much unnoticed work off the ball. Centre Halves must need 3 days rest after a battle with him. Never going to score a 30yarder or do 20 step overs, rival neymar for a trick. But without him in the team, none of our players get to play to there full ability.

Definately has scored the bravest goal for us I have ever seen.

He ended up wrapping himself around the goalpost. Can't remember who it was against.

He's still our top scorer

I love his work rate, he done it against Derby I think where the defender was letting it roll out for a goal kick then Heidar rushes over and manages to win a corner out of nothing, what a workhouse :ayatollah:

When you look at the formation he might be down as a forward, but his job isnt to score goals for us.

He creates so many without even touching the ball.

Campbell and Barnett were our 2 best players yesterday IMO

I thought he was the same vs Derby, chasing lost causes and being a total pain in the arse.

So many people can't see the work some of our strikers do away from the penalty area and I cringe when you read people saying they were shite when they have bullied a back 4 all game.

That's my opinion and I stand by it,being kicked doesn't make him a good player, his best days are behind him

Good for you. There is no doubt his best days are behind him, don't think anyone will argue that. Getting kicked doesn't make you a good player. Knowing how to play the game as he does is a big asset though.

One of few people who have backed him all season..

You need these type of players in your team if your wanting to get promotion.

He is a nightmare for defenders and he never gives up.

He grabbed 3 assists against Blackburn Away and scored 2 at Ipswich..

His goal against Hull was brilliant.. it is great to see players of his no nonsense ability you have to admire.

I didn't go yesterday but the people on the radio said he was putting defenders under pressure.

He won a few corners out of nothing, absolute gem for us.

He also won the free kick for the second goal. It came from a throw in down the line to him and he used his experience to feel the nudge in the back and go down to win the free kick. Helguson's all action, committed display with his old, experienced head is exactly what we need at this stage of the season. :ayatollah:
