" Peter Whittingham is vital to Cardiff City "

PROBABLY one of the worst home performances of the season was witnessed by 23,000 Cardiff City fans on Tuesday evening, yet we managed to get a point from the Leicester game.

" We have to stick with the team when things are not going well "

It seemed the game plan was to avoid defeat.

There will be 20,000 different opinions on who should play and what formation we should adopt, but only one man’s opinion really matters and that, of course, is the manager’s.

Ipswich was the worst for me.

Thought that it was Leicester who set up not to get beat tbh, as they didn't show an awful lot of attacking intent and got everybody behind the ball when we had possession!

I just felt we struged to break them down, which wasn't helped by them scything down our players, especially Conway in the first half when he went past St Ledger and we looked toothless until Gestede came on!

Why change the style of play which has seen us sit top of the League for almost 4 months :?

For me this season has been all about the way MM has set the team up to play with the most important single characteristic being the defensive shape with two lines of 4 inviting opponents to play their way through. When they fail and lose the ball we then try to break as quickly as possible, if that's not on then it is a more probing appraoch trying to pass teams to death until we create a chance at goal. Entertaining it isn't but we cannot doubt it's effectiveness.

On Tuesday Leicester arrived at the CCS with the best away defensive record in the League and the game was ALL about which team scored the first goal. It was never going to be an open flowing game of football, indeed how many opponents have come to CCS this season and wanted an open game of football ? Wolves maybe and look what happened to them.

Things may well have been different if Maynard had not got injured but we will never know. Right now for me it's about believing in this manager and our players and remember that on Tuesday the team with the best away defensive record in the League scored first and we still managed to score against them. Why? because this manager and these players NEVER give up.

That attitude WILL get us the points we need and it won't matter to me if we get them at home or away.

They're currently playing poorly & have done for some time. We've been lucky that: -

Teams chasing us have slipped up.

We've nabbed a few lucky results/wins we probably shouldn't have won.

If things don't change, we won't be top for long. :old:

Southampton and QPR must have been unlucky in past years then because we are still ahead of them, points wise, afer 36 games.

But it doesn't involve luck it's about being the most consistent team over a season. Right now that's us and in my opinion the 6th place club after 46 games will do well to get more than 72pts.

As for us maybe 1 team will catch us but two :?

Agreed. Coincidentally Noone and Conway both played that day as well, yet the tactics were to hoof the ball out from defence. What i ca'nt get my head around is why our midfield ca'nt dominate games. Yes i know we're top of the league as certain posters like to point out, but things can soon change.

But things were changed against Sheff Weds... So your statement makes no sense. :laughing6:

No sense, me, you cannot be serious ;)

I think it makes perfect sense and certainly more sense than your statement that a club that has been at the top of the table for 67% of the season to date has been lucky
