Cardiff City's Fraizer Campbell has been named Championship player of the month – his first individual award since he was 10!
Campbell, 25, was recognised today for what the striker describes as a “dream start” to his Cardiff career.
The former Manchester United hit-man – who joined the Bluebirds in a £600,000 move from Sunderland in January – hit the ground running in February with five goals in as many games for his new club.
That tally included a debut winner at Leeds and doubles against Bristol City and Wolves in 2-1 wins.
“I’m delighted to win this award after moving to a new club,” said Campbell.
“I think the last time I won a personal award I was 10!
“But it’s always good to start off well and show your teammates and fans what you’re all about.
“It was a dream start for me in February and hopefully next month will be the same.”
March has not been quite so kind to Campbell or Cardiff as the Huddersfield-born forward has gone three games without a goal and the Bluebirds have picked up only two points from three matches.
But he said: “I couldn’t care less if I didn’t score another goal until the end of the season as long as we finish first or second.

Turning out to be one of the best buys in the Championship this season. Lots of experience at this level and was exactly what we needed to finally fire us into the promised land (hopefully)!!!
