' Fair play to Forest Fans '

Fri Mar 15, 2013 1:07 pm

Forest Fans,
They've got 3,500 fans travelling to Hull this Saturday and thyve never been in the Top 2 All season, in fact theyve have not done that well. Also they reckon they will def bring 2,000 fans to Cardiff and if they could get more they would sell them.

Its all changed with the return of Billy Davies and the successful run they are having. Autos might be a bridge to far for them but they are comfortable about winning the play offs.

Very passionate fans and the club has a lot of history to be proud of. Good times for them.

Super Support by them Ian, theyve gone through a lot of bad times, but stuck with it, kept their pride and tradition and their fans are all behind them because of it and at the moment just looking at the play-offs. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Problem they fear is that Billy Davies has a tendancy to do a Dave Jones and go on a bad run. I recall when they beat us 2-1 at their place to go 2nd I think they then went on a bad run and just made the play offs. History is against them looking at it that way but you don't think about it when things are going right.

Like has been said many times, cardiffs away support has Gone i remember thousands going back in the lower leagues,a game against brentford being completely sold out with hundreds left outside, now with us being top of the championship and looking set for promotion, its gone back wards and the numbers just ain't there, surprised me loads I thought we would have sold out every where with only a few games left

I remember being in the long line of bluebirds up and around the block waiting to get in my brother and others jumping out of the line to bring some beer from the local pub and taking the piss out of their fans for calling us sheep shaggers and one of our thrusting a blow up sheep in the air when we scored I think that was andy Leggs debute :old:

In reality not really a long trip for them us it . Always disliked their fans , their crowds had dipped quite a lot. So no they haven't always stuck by their team.

Whenever I've looked on the MBs they really hate us "Welsh c*****" etc "What are they doing in our league?" etc etc. They have a big population, a history of top division football and have won the European Cup. They've won 5 on the trot, they are in with a good chance of being in the play offs, Hull isn't that far for them. Not that impressed tbh. No offence :ayatollah:

I never said I liked them.
Still brought well over 1,000 fans to us in the past with nothing to play for, our average away this season is nearly half theirs

Annis, I lived up that way for 6 years and watched Forest a few times and had lots of friends who were Forest fans, they are a big club with an awesome recent (well seems recent to me) history -they still have lots of fans around the country who have no link to the area either from their glory days.

They are a bigger club than us, but the gap is shrinking.

As for their away followings.. well we always take more to them than they do to us. Their average is bigger, but hardly surprising

At a rough guess they have the following easy trips - and nearly all straight motorway runs...

Leicester - 20 miles away
Derby - 10 miles away
Sheffield - 40 miles
Birmingham - 40 miles
Wolves 45-50 miles
Barnsley - 50 miles
Huddersfield 60
Watford 70-80

Hardly any of their trips except maybe Brighton and the South London clubs will be over 2 hours.

Even Boro, Hull, Leeds - 4-5 hour journeys for us are all closer than our second closest away .

The ave away going to them is 1500-2000 as well, with Derby and Leicester taking 4000+ most times.

With the exception of Bristol City all of our away games are 100+ miles away.

Were Runaway leaders of the Championship.
When we were in Div 4 away to Hartlepool we took 650 fans, with home crowds of 4,000, when we took 1,400 to Hartlepool our home Crowds were 8,000, our home crowds are now 23,000 and we take 603 fans to Boro this season.

That may be true but we were paying nowhere near todays prices and salaries havent moved on that much either.

The travel costs were much cheaper too.

Our fans were skint then.
Brighton fans travel long distances.
Boro is a poor area and they brought to us 800 odd this season and were not top of the league, face the fact, we have some how lost our once amazing away support.

I realise that...I'm just saying there are quite a few reasons for it.

You must admit a good few that used to follow the City away was because of the "trouble" factor. We are now a family club and of course the + side of it is that our home attendances are way up. At least the club keep the money on the home games.

By the way....what is Hull and Watford's average away following?
