DJ I have an issue with them that will come to fruition hope

Media Wales 14th March 2013

Dave Jones, in charge of Wednesday, took the Bluebirds into the Championship play-offs twice, but failed to clear that final hurdle.

“Malky has done a good job there. Let them continue with it. My time was done. I have an issue with them that will come to fruition hopefully pretty soon, then I can get on with what I want to do.

"Cardiff City doesn’t mean anything to me whatsoever."

However, Jones believes Mackay will succeed where he failed.

“Malky has done a good job there and I believe they will earn automatic promotion,” said Jones.

“It’s a question of whether they go up as champions or runners-up.”

Jones was manager of the Bluebirds for six years and says: “I have good memories, but I left that club and moved to another. It doesn’t mean anything to me whatsoever. My professionalism kicks in. Full stop.

“I’d rather talk about Sheffield Wednesday than them. I’ve got enough on my plate.”

He did, though, concede: “Malky has done a good job there. Let them continue with it. My time was done. I have an issue with them that will come to fruition hopefully pretty soon, then I can get on with what I want to do.

“Cardiff are top of the league. We’ve had them watched a couple of times.

“No doubt they will have had us watched. They’re up there because they’ve been the most consistent in their results.

“Whether performances have been what they expect, I don’t know.

“It’s about keeping it going. People say they’re limping over the line or jumping over the line, It doesn’t really matter, so long as they get there and I’m sure that’s what the manager will be telling them.

“At our best we are a match for anybody. We have proved that time and time again.

“I would think Cardiff will go up.

“They’ll be disappointed if they don’t.

“There is a cushion from top to third. It’s a little matter of whether they go up as champions or as runners-up.”

Mackay watched Wednesday in their 1-0 win at Leicester last weekend and has also had full reports on the Yorkshire team after their last few matches.

City could switch to 4-5-1 in a bid to keep things tight and ensure they take another step towards a top-two finish.

Don Cowie or Kim Bo-kyung could be added in central midfield with Craig Bellamy and Tommy Smith in wide areas.

Peter Whittingham looks certain to be captain with Hudson absent.

No matter how they set up the team formation, though, the key is that City keep moving forward towards their promotion aim.

They now have away matches against Wednesday and Peterborough over the next two matches before going into a spell of four home matches in their following five fixtures.

But, while they have only two matches between now and the end of this month, City then hit a spell of seven games in 22 days.

That’s when they will need Hudson, Turner and Barnet available to see them through what will be a crucial spell.

Ain't going to bother slating him as he stuck with us for 6 years and built us into where we are now...

He could sometimes making us the most attractive attacking side in this league yet have some mares.

He is just being honest.

Whilst I accept that our club moved forward under DJ, despite selling players every year, it is difficult to think beyond the end of season dips which were a trademark of his time at the club.

An FA Cup Final, a playoff final need to be balanced against losing out on the playoffs by 1 goal from a position where it looked impossible not to qualify for them. Then the lack of discipline displayed by players in the run up to that game against Middlesbrough leaves me with an issue with this man. Given the abject nature of his continual failures the Middlesbrough debacle, in my opinion, should have seen him drop on his sword and resign. Instead and two years on "He Has An Issue" which relates to the bag of money he expects the club to pay him for going. That speak volumes for me and for that reason I have a problem with him.

Limping or jumping over the line as fans we can take one thing to the bank and that is under MM our team WILL be properly prepared and WILL always be ready to give their best.

If we fail it will not be because of poor preperation, about our players being out on the town it will be because as a group we were not good enough. That's the difference for me MM has taken our club to a new and much higher level.

The quotes about DJ having an issue with Cardiff are old quotes, as he stated the same in December!

"It doesn’t mean anything to me whatsoever". The club never meant much to him when he was here apart from the wedge he was earning out of the club.

And

"I have an issue with them that will come to fruition hopefully pretty soon". That must mean he think he's owed money and he beleives he's going to get it.

The most likely "issue" is whether or not he was entitled to the balance of his one year notice money even though he got a new job within that 12 month period

Lets be honest Dave Jones was the most successful manager we have had in this day of age. We've may of missed out on promotion but we've been in cup finals and that is a great achievement. :malky:

Didn't say it wasn't a new interview, just that he said the same back in December! :) :ayatollah:

Can't see the point in Terry repeating the same topic(s) in an interview mind, when it was only covered 3 months ago!

Totally agree with all that, & i just hope that MM & our team can see the job through this time around, otherwise i will be calling for an "exorcism" at our club as well!!!
