Has our club become an embarrassment?

Wed Mar 13, 2013 11:56 pm

A joke? A laughing stock, maybe?

These are all ways i've read OUR OWN fans describe our club on here tonight. Not fans of Swansea, Bristol City or Leeds. Our own fans. Our own "customers", even.

I'd say the only thing that's stopping me and many others from becoming totally ashamed of what our club has become is the fight, spirit and effort Malky and his players are putting in this season. Despite our blip lately, that cannot be questioned in my opinion. They've done us proud.

But with the colour change, the new badge, the awful atmosphere at home games, the countless Malaysian flags around the CCS, and worst of all the divide it's caused between our own supporters...

has our club become an embarrassment?

The taunts that come from the away fans every game without fail, and the more and more people that have supported this club, for a long time in some cases, that are walking away despite almost-certain Premier League football next season, suggests that we have become exactly that.

No, its just become different. There's been no middle ground, we've just gone from one extreme to the other in a very short space of time

No doubt about it. I used to be proud to say I was a Cardiff City fan, but now I almost feel embarrassed to admit it. Whenever I meet people at work I would often steer the conversation towards football, so I could talk City with them, now I dread the topic arising.

When the away fans take the piss, half the fans around me have started clapping them, and not in a sarcastic way either.

There you have it mr tan. Some of our fans have stopped going all together, some are embarrassed or even ashamed at what has been done to our club. The majority are just putting up with it because they are scared the club will go bust if you leave. You've got us by the short and curlies, just like a real bond villain.

Are you happy mr tan? well, ARE YOU?

Probably rolling around naked in a big pile of money.

Seeing all the plastic premier league glory hunters with there red scarfs and gloves on waving to the away fans when leaving with 15 mins to go after going 1-0 down was the most embarasing and a sign of the kind of support Tan wants supporting us in the premier league...........the loyal 75% who appear to back his every decision by actively wearing and supporting the "red" but leaving when 1-0 down with 15-18 mins to play

If thats how were supported now i dread to think about going 2-0 down in the prem

I'm sure it will make absolutely no difference to Tan unless enough people stop going to games, and i just can't see that happening because even if alot do stop, there are alot of new fans to replace them with us going up to the Premier League.

Never thought a part of me would want us to not get promoted, but that's what this rebrand has done.

He could have been a hero, he could have been the man that saved us from decades of lower league football and off field mismanagement.
But he is very rapidly turning into a figure of ridicule with his crazy ideas and his stupid red coat, and many now despise him. And he has the cheek to say he will walk away if WE are rude to HIM!!

Yes, we're the biggest laughing stock in football at the moment.

swings both ways nobody is happy with the changes in the club but neither am I happy with people exacerbating the situation to stay in the lime light and a desperate search to stay popular. Yesterday was a perfect example of this, so desperate to get the word out making claims out of half truths and rumours trying to make them facts, then a desperate attempt to save face.

on social media, on messageboards, in the press........its the fans who are an embarrassment not the club. The club are 4 points clear at the top of the championship with a game in hand. The fans are bottom of the league, facing a winding up order, and a 10 point deduction.

How dare the fans want the club's identity to remain intact...

The fans dont want it. where is the mass protest/march? If you think this is wrong do something about. Or just whinge and moan on a message board...

More to an identity of a club than the name. :thumbright:

Colour meant something to you when you chose your name, why not now? :?

How can you tell me it doesn't mean anything now, i don't like the red but i will put up with it for the future of the club, if the name ever changes at that point i will stop going. So the name Cardiff City Fc is not an identity then :o
