" Cardiff City moves to assure fans over all red badge "

Cardiff City has moved to assure fans it has not ditched the bluebird from next season’s badge.

There was a swirl of rumour on social media on Wednesday after the club took a shipment of new leisure wear which then went on display in the windows of the club shop.

The new clothing featured an all-red version of the club’s current badge on a grey background. The bluebird at the bottom of the design was also red.

Club officials in the ticket office were wearing body warmers bearing the single-colour badge, leading some fans to say the club had gone back on a promise to retain its current insignia.

But a club spokesman said the situation had been “misread”.

He also told WalesOnline that next season’s official club wear would not be delivered by March in any case.

News of the shipment of garments sporting the seemingly new badge broke around lunchtime.

Lifelong supporter Annis Abraham said: “Bit-by-bit he's phasing it out, isn't he?

“We should be concentrating on the football team, supporting the team and cheering them on but every few days we are getting things changing."

But a spokesman for the club said that the club badge had not been changed and pointed to monochrome badges featuring on the leisure wear of many other clubs.

He said: “Many clubs have shop stock with single colour items. Leisure wear shouldn't be the cause of panic. A situation clearly misread.”

Clubs with single colour badges on leisure wear include Manchester United, who sell clothing with all-white and all-black badges, and Liverpool, whose crest featuring the famous liver bird can be seen in yellow, white and red on various garments sold from its official online store.

Man U and Liverpool have not been through a damaging change of identity! The way he's handling everything is damaging fan morale.
Supporters are very sensitive about these things especially after the recent stunts he's pulled and his assertion that the rebrand hasn't finished yet! I mean , where else can be actually go with ye rebrand? He's already taken away our colour , demoted the bluebird (it would have disappeared last summer if it were not for fan reaction), there's only three things left he could do: take the bluebird away completely, change the name of the club, change the seating colour.

Why on earth would we be paranoid eh???!!!:

That is the bottom line. Personally I wouldn't buy it whichever badge was on it, but I supposed it is not aimed at me or you, but our 'massive' Far East supporter base....
