A forum for all things Cardiff City
Sat Mar 09, 2013 10:58 pm
It's that time of the week again.
When the thousands if not millions of premier league fans sit in front of their TV screens and Watch MOTD.
Supporting their Fav teams from many miles away.
Here's an idea, stop being a plastic supporter in the hunt for glory.
Try Supporting your local side and giving them the much needed financial and Vocal backing.
Same applies to most Celtic and Rangers fans also.
Love the game ... Not the glory.

People can support whoever they want. Who are you to tell them otherwise.

Craig This is a forum that allows people to voice their opinions and views.
That is my opinion and my view.
Who am I ?
I'm the man who started the topic.

ha ha!

well said.
I still get confused to this day, why people support clubs that are hundreds of miles away from their own towns or Cities, most of the time in other Countries!
FAO: craig - that is my opinion.

No, you are telling people who to support. As if your some kind of super fan.
People like you think your something special and it really makes me laugh.
That is an opinion.

I've never understood how you can support more than one team or support a team hundreds of miles away.
Sun Mar 10, 2013 10:25 am
Craig, shut up - he offered it as a suggestion.

No it was not a suggestion.
As for me shutting up, it would take more than a plum like you to get me to do that.

Yes, it was. "Try supporting.."
You'd argue with your own shadow if it looked at you the wrong way.
Sun Mar 10, 2013 10:34 am
If you read it in the context it was written it was not a suggestion.
As for the shadow comment.....yup, you are right....i know someone else exactly like that to........
Sun Mar 10, 2013 10:35 am
Have done thank.

definitely a suggestion.

Well I support a team 150 miles away in a sort of different country and rarely miss a home game. Is that allowed? Hope so because otherwise I'll have to support Watford or QPR #unlikely
What u think Craig(s)?
Sun Mar 10, 2013 10:38 am
I think people can support whoever they want, no matter how far away the club is.
I agree with Chuckles, i dont get how people can support more than one team though.

Craig this is what I know.
When I was growing up most of ( not all ) but most of them were plastic Manu and Liverpool fans.
What did I do on Saturday?
I went along and supported my club.
What did they do?
Out of curiosity Craig, what prem team do you follow?

Well then why take offence at my post ?
And how would you know what context it was written In, you did not write it?
Surely that's just your interpretation ?
Sun Mar 10, 2013 11:55 am
I didnt take offence.
This board at present is rife with people moaning about plastics and such as if they are scum and come across as some sort of superfan. People can do as they please.
If this wasnt your intention then apologies
Sun Mar 10, 2013 12:10 pm
No need to appologise Craig.
That's the whole point to debating in views and opinions.
I am not a "Superfan" far from it.
My point was simply how can people take satisfaction from following a team via the media sources mentioned in the title and never actually go and attend a match? Where is the enjoyment?
And many will be plastered in club tattoos to boot ?
I have had an Emmotional connection to my club since I was a child. That is where my passion comes from.
Where does there passion develope from?
Jeff stelling John Motson ?

I suppose I support 91 clubs at different times.
First and foremost the bluebirds have done since I saw my first football game in 1967.
I also support whichever side is playing the swans on any given day.
Sad I know but thats just the way it is.
Never followed anyother side as a "second" side as I dont see the point.
Fan is short for fanatical and thats what i am about the bluebirds.
Leicester is no longer a must win but a "great win if it happens"

You are correct that people can support who they want
BUT it does make me wonder why someone form, say, London (with several top clubs) would still
CLAIM to be a Man Utd suporter even though they'd never been north of the Watford Gap
Surely far better to
SUPPORT your 'local' team in the flesh than some distant team
JUST because they are doing well? (Remember Newcastle a few short years ago)
ADMIRING a side for its ability or style is one thing but claiming
SUPPORT needs a certain 'financial investment IMHO
TRUE 'supporters' are those who can be arsed to get off of their arses and pay good money to watch their side through thick and (often mainly) thin
Cardiff City has
ALWAYS had fans like that and will continue to do so
WHEREVER or
WHOEVER we play
