As I said after the Derby game Tuesday night, I would make a few changes and change the system to 4-4-1-1. My team would be:
GK Marshall
LB Taylor
CB Turner
CB Hudson
RB Connolly
LM Conway/Bellamy (switching)
CM Gunnarsson
CM Cowie
RM Bellamy/Conway (switching)
AM Kimbo
ST Campbell
Whittingham has been carried for months and I think we will need an engine in there to help Gunnarsson out. Also, we need to keep the ball a lot better and whenever Kimbo is in the team, we play better football. I think Smith is a class footballer but he has been quite poor the last few games and I think he's played a bit too much following his injury. Noone made a difference against Derby, but I trust Conway a lot more to put in an honest shift and not let us down.
I think it was Conway who gave the ball away leading to Derby's goal, but that's the first mistake he has made since breaking back into the team and we had plenty of chance to stop the goal after Conway's error. People need to realise the only reason Conway was in that position anyway was because he runs his guts out both attacking and defending. I think he's a dream of a wide man to have to allow Bellamy to do his stuff on the other wing.
