Connolly v Derby

Wed Mar 06, 2013 8:11 pm

It's not saying much, but he was our Man of the Match last night in my opinion.

Should have been playing CB alongside Turner from the start. My defence would have been Kev, Turner, Connolly, Taylor. Ben Nugent, although a raw talent, needs Hudson alongside him because he looks lost and nervous without his presence.

Connolly made some quality tackles, tried to avoid playing a Turner-esque long ball, and did anyone see his skills in midfield? Very comfortable on the ball, and apparently pretty confident right now which is surprising given our results.

So, well done Connolly. His performance shouldn't be overlooked by the dreadful form of other players in the team at present.

Agree totally - our best player by some distance last night. Thought Conway played well too apart form his horrible mistake for their goal.

I thought Campbell was by far out best player and the only one who looked sharpe and switched on.

Conally did play well but unfortunately he is very limited at RB, he doesn't offer a lot to the shape of the team, that's not his fault tho. He did his job.

Yeah he was good, however Noone was better. I prefer a winger who can beat a defender rather than simply turn, and pass it back to Gunnarson/Whitts like Conway last night.

I thought Connolly and Conway's contrasting performances were shown in one moment perfectly. It was when Connolly put in that huge tackle on the Derby midfielder and we won possession. That got the crowd going and the atmosphere felt like it was about to push up to the level it did against Leicester that year when Gyepes got sent off. However, how did Conway take advantage of this atmosphere from the resulting corner we won? He failed to get it past the first man and the disappointment reverberated around the crowd and dented the atmosphere.
