Peted Whittingham

Wed Mar 06, 2013 8:16 am

He is totally out of form. And i would go as far as to say he was the worst on the pitch last night absalutely awfull.
To get the best out of Whitts he needs to be pushed forward into an attacking central midfielder role. Unless he plays that then he does tend to throw his toys out of the pram.

But saying all that he is the best attacking midfielder in this division by a country mile and i have been left flabergasted for some time why he is pushed into this defensive role which completely makes him useless. Now what really baffles me Malky will play the stadium cat at this attacking role before Whitts and i find it shocking he is doing this to our best player. Its no coincidence that whitts has not scored for such a long time but when he is sat just in front of the back four it sort of explains why.

Only Malky can explain why he is ruining the Championships best midfielder in this way. We need to revitalise the team and one way of doing that is to use Whitts to his strengths . Get Whitts in his best position for the rest of the season :ayatollah:

Mentioned this before....I think it may be to stop our defence hoofing the ball up the pitch and Whitts is there to try and link the defence with the midfield.

i would like to echo what some other people have posted...

for whitts to be more effective he needs to not be in a 442...

this would prob be better... 4-1-4-1

I agree Whitts has been used almost as a semi-sweeper lately and it doesn't do him any favours :?

Didn't stop Turner pumping daft balls up to the little guys up front, though. It annoys me beyond (although it did improve when Gestede came on) :ayatollah:

Heres a thought, how is about getting behind one of our best players when is a bit out of form, rather than slating him every game.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Sorry, I should have elaborated, I didnt just mean this thread, or last night.

After every game theres a thread having a go at Whitts.

I just think hes the kind of charachter who needs the arm around him approach, not fans bemoaning him in the stands.

And I am with you on the out of position, that is firmly down to MM.

I think your both right but rather say the formation needed tweeking last night.Even under DJ whenever we play 4-4-2 the ones that found us out was the sides that played 4-3-3 or 4-5-1.Derby did this last night and although they wern't that good they did manage to styful whitts IMO.

He hasn't been playing well for months now. Don't understand why Malky doesn't give him a rest and start Kim in the center. Last night playing Derby was the perfect chance. They are not good away, so this was the chance for Malky to try something different. Whittingham needs resting and Kim needs to be given more chances. He was superb against Blackpool, on a dodgy pitch and played some great passes. Time for him to be used against Leicester i think.
